Guest guest
Hello Judy, Thank you for the email. I am 43. I had a Laminectomy (L4/L5/S1) in Feb. of '96; Spinal Fusion with bone graft (L3/L4/L5/S1) in July of '98; EBI stimulator removed in Aug. '99. Since then I have been given the dx of; Failed Back Syndrome; DDD; Spinal Stenosis (unoperable because of sever scar tissue); Intermittent Neurogenic Claudication; Neurogenic Bladder; Osteoarthritis; Disc rupture at T9 with arthritic spurs and I also have a connective tissue disease similar to Lupus. I asked Santa for a new bod for xmas, but he didn't deliver. LOL. Oh well, maybe next year. My original back injury was from pulling a patient up in bed (with assistance of course). After my first surgery I felt like a new man for about a year then I started having a lot of back pain and difficulty standing up from sitting down. That is when the neurosurgeon told me that I needed a spinal fusion. I have learned since then that the spinal fusion was ill advised. I have permanent nerve damage in my left leg from the surgery. The doc that did my surgery has since had his license revoked for insurance fraud. He was supposedly one of the top neuro docs in that area. Oh well. At least I had some luck as I was approved for SSD two weeks after they sent me to see their doc. How did you injure your back? Happy and Pain Free New Years to All. Peace on Earth. Huber@... Guest guest
<<< I asked Santa for a new bod for xmas, but he didn't deliver. LOL. Oh well, maybe next year. >>> You too huh??? He must have run out of new backs this year cause I didn't get one either! LOL!! <<< He was supposedly one of the top neuro docs in that area. Oh well.>>>> I want to know who makes up these " he's the top doc in this area " crap! That is what I was told before my first surgery and I was only out of pain for 1 month before it all came back and worse. Then I found out the " top doc " started operating on the wrong level and that the level he started on (which there was nothing wrong with) has since collapsed and caused more DDD. I also heard that he was fired from the hospital a few years later for sexual harrassment! I do have a good neurosurgeon now and he put in my Stimulator that really helps the leg pain. Just thought I'd add my 2 cents here! Hope you all have a wonderful 2004 and get the best pain relief possible!!! Happy New Year! Peace, Ann
Guest guest
Hello Ann, Thanks for your nice reply. Sounds like you have a good case for a law suit. How is the Stimulator working? I have considered that, but I have so much scar tissue I don't know if I would be a candidate. Anyway, I have about had my fill of surgeries. I swore after the last one that I would not let another surgeon touch me again. I actually need another spinal fusion, but a neurosurgeon I went to see in Manhattan (he is listed in the best doctor book) told me not to ever let a neurosurgeon tell me that they could help me. He said I have so much scar tissue that I would be paralyzed if I had surgery because it would be like finding a needle in a haystack. Im glad that you have a good neurosurgeon. For folks like us they are like gold. Happy New Year To All. Namaste, Huber@...
