Hey Eva,

Yes, I agree its all stories. Below is 's answer to a very

similar question to one you are asking, and it sums up my position on

the matter quite nicely.

" Dear ,

Isn't " Can you absolutely know that it's true? " a rhetorical

question? There doesn't seem to be anything we can absolutely know to

be true. And isn't " what is " just another story?

Dear Steve,

Yes, of course you are right. Not everyone realizes what seems to

be so clear to you--that there is really nothing we can know for sure

and that everything changes. " The sun rose this morning " is a story

too, a wonderful story. What I call the last story is " God is

everything, God is good. "

The Work is not about getting rid of stories. It is about seeing

through stories that cause us stress--stories like " My mother doesn't

love me " or " I'm not good enough " or " Something terrible can happen "

or " It's possible to be in the wrong place at the wrong time. " Once

we understand through inquiry that these stories aren't true for us

in the moment, once we realize how we react when we believe them and

who we would be without them, these ancient stressful stories lose

their power over us. When you truly know that there is nothing to

know, when you don't believe everything you think and you love the

stories that bring you peace, all that is left is a happy life. "

(extract from Byron 's March newsletter)

Loving what is, Eva, and that would be you.

Hey Eva,

If its a happy story, then I say keep it. If not, then its time to

inquire. As says, " The Work is not about getting rid of

stories. It is about seeing through stories that cause us stress. "

Loving what is, Eva, and that would be you.

This is interesting, Eva. This really makes me think. Could this be

true? It´s possible, it COULD happen. But let´s say I will die

tomorrow. Then it wouldn´t be time for all my happy stories (and

they are many!) to turn into pain. So I ask myself what I prefer;

happiness from my happy stories and unhappiness from my unhappy

stories - or unhappiness fom my unhappy stories AND unhappiness from

my happy stories, because I believe they the will cause me pain -

sooner or later, and that later becomes sooner for me when I believe

they will hurt me. Some might say they prefer no stories at all -

the ultimate happiness. Could be true. I don´t know. I haven´t lived

a life totally without stories. I never met someone that has either.

Even , which sort of invented this " work " , has stories. She

says she live in a happy dream - until she doesn´t. So what reality

tells me is that there is no world without stories. No stories - no

world - no happiness OR unhappiness. Brain dead. I feel so much

stress when I think I have to undo my happy stories as well. It is

hard enough to undo the unhappy ones that causes me pain and for

that reason drives me to do the work. Happy stories doesn´t have

that effect on me. It doesn´t feel natural or good or kind or loving

to myself to do the work on them. They may turn into unhappy ones

one day - so be it. That day, that sorrow.

Yes :) that´s what I mean. I didn´t read your whole post before I

answered, but now I see we sort of say the same thing but in

different words..:)

I see what you mean. Thinking about the future, for me it always

have some kind of stress in it. " This could happen and that could

happen, and what if this will happen, and what if it doesn´t... "

Dear ,

> Even , which sort of invented this " work " , has stories.

Yes, that's what I heard her say as well.

But she doesn't attach to the stories.

They enter her mind, they linger for some time, long or short, and

then leave again, without a trace. At least, that's how I imagine it

is for her :-)

It's the attachment to the story, the belief that it is not a story

but something " real " out there, something separate from me that

causes the pain. The separation between me and the story makes me

feel that the stories have power over me while in fact they are

absolutely powerless to affect the consciousness that's experiencing

them. I know this whenever I am that consciousness.

> No stories - no world

I get this to mean that without the stories, Consciousness would not

know it existed. Consciousness needs the world created by stories in

order to experience its Being. Otherwise, what else could it be

Conscious of? Pure nothingness and silence. Not a lot to go on then.

It needs the stories, the sound, the images, to experience Itself.

> I feel so much

> stress when I think I have to undo my happy stories as well.

The stress is caused by the belief that you 'should' undo your happy

stories as well.

You should undo your happy stories. Is it true?

> I see what you mean. Thinking about the future, for me it always

> have some kind of stress in it. " This could happen and that could

The belief that one outcome would be 'happier' or 'better' then

another is what causes the stress.

> Thank you Eva for writing your posts, love reading them!

I'm glad!

And thank you for sharing your thoughts, .

They are a gift.

Love,

Eva

This must be heaven, not being attached to any stories, just let

them come and go, come and go... Sounds so beautiful to me.

Yes, that´s how I see it. Or imagine it must be.

No, it can´t be because I am not, at least not in any conscious

level. I guess i am too attached to them to want to let go of them.

If they one day will cause me pain, they no longer will be happy

stories, right? And maybe I then will feel a need to inquire them
