Re: Yet Another Pain Meds Update

hello there,

I found that the 50mcg patch was not touching my pain, so my doctor increased

it to 100mcg every 48 hours. Now I have found that for some reason, when I

put on a patch, then about 12 hours later put on another patch, I can leave

them on for about 72 hours or more --- it tends to work out the same, but I am

feeling much better in the long run. I also have a number of percocets (7.5/325)

for break-through pain. Ativan also helps; it decreases the anxiety and

panic attacks when I am so tense and in so much pain. I once was yelled at by a

pharmacist who said the ativan does nothing for pain.... but I feel just by

being able to relax really helps, it also helps to sleep, which is another

coping mechanism when I am in that much pain.

I want to thank everyone on this list who have given me feedback; and of

course I learn from others and gain much support.

Ron

Hi Ricky

I am so glad you are feeling better. My mother is having good luck with the

duragesic patch but she has to change hers every 48 hours.

Here is my advice: take good care of yourself and see a counselor to help

with all the problems that chronic pain can cause. I believe this can help a

person not to wear out their friends and family with their problems and

frustrations.

Once again it is good to know that you are getting some relief.

Yeah, that's why I staggered the dosages, so it never dips really low.

I'd rather two small dips that one big one!

Well, " family and friends " in RL is basically something I don't have any

of, but I do have a (telephone) counsellor and he is disabled too so

it's nice to be able to talk to somebody with an idea about what's going

on. Unfortunately I only have a couple more sessions with him and my

time will be up because they only allow 12 sessions, but I 'm hoping to

get another 12 soon. I hate being bedridden and broke!!!

Thanks a heap, Kaylene.

Ricky

You are quite welcome Ricky. Yes it is very difficult to be bedridden. Do

you enjoy reading? I belong to a book club on yahoo called bookworms if you

might be interested.

I hope you are having a good day today.
