Guest guest
, I'm always SO encouraged when I see e-mails from those who have improved. It really gives me hope. I know my B-12 is good because I've been on high dose sublingual supplement for about 3 years (after testing low on B12 and Folate), but Iron is still an issue. I started out with Ferritin at 20 something, then raised it to 100 about ayear ago by using 5 x 18 mg. (total = 90 mg.) pills a day of the Twin Lab chelated Iron (ferrous fumarate). So silly me, thinking I could just maintain this on a 'maintenance' dose cut back to 1-2 pills a day. After only a few months, Ferritin dropped to 53. So I started back on 5 pills a day and a month later retested on 8/11 and Ferritin was now at 65, which tells me I need to keep at this dose or a little higher. My serum iron also dropped and is coming back up accordingly. I KNOW I need to just be patient on this thyroid med 'thing'. So many of you wonderful gals have said over and over that it can take months to years to tweak your dose until life seems bright and cheery again and the fatigue and fog lift from one's addled brain!!! I just get so darn frustrated sometimes because I'm 54 and I see life 'going by' with me just an observer instead of an active participant!!! Now that I take better supplements, go to my chiropractor, and take the right dose of armour with other supplements- my tingling, burning, numbness are alot better. I still have it at times, but not like I used to. Once my dosage was tweaked, and we are still tweaking, it all improved - brain fog, energy, cold, cramps, hair falling out, but especially that burning and numbness. Still working with it, but it is much better. Hope you feel better soon! Get ideas on sharing photos from people like you. Find new ways to share. Get Ideas Here! Guest guest
Hello All,Just a note that might apply on the neuropathy thing. The last temp job I was able to do, I took so many B-complex pills every day, just to make it to work, that I ODed on B6, Pyroxidine I think it is. Too much B6 made the bottoms of my feet burn and tingle and be weird. It took almost one YEAR of not taking ANY B vitamins (yarg!) to get rid of that buildup. Now, a couple of years later, I can take B-100 complex again. I get it from the health store, because it has no dyes or fillers or coatings. I am chem sensitive now (sigh), to certain things. Right now I am trying to find a calcium that doesn't rash me out! How weird is that??!! Any ideas on that issue??Myelin sheaths that surround nerves cannot maintain themselves without Vitamin B Complex to help make myelin (I know a lot about this because of 5 terminal conditions hubby, one of which is poly-neuropathy). Start slow and see if you can tolerate.I appreciate the call to be patient!!!Kind thoughts to everyone,Vicki, I'm always SO encouraged when I see e-mails from those who have improved. Guest guest
Vicki, The calcium rash is likely because calciums are often derived from shell fish - you must be allergic to shell fish. Try looking for a version that is labeled Vegan or at least vegetarian. My experience has been that the food allergies and chemical sensitivies go hand and hand and that's a sign of toxicity. On the topic of B vitamins, you are correct that B6 (and B3, in the form of pure Niacin) are the B vitamins that you can take too much of. And, they can both impact the liver, so for folks that are already toxic, even adding any vitamins can make them even more toxic. B6 is usually safe in the 100-200 mg dosage and the P5P form is the most active - I take 60 mg of that daily. As far as B12, there is no known toxic level - you'll just pee it out and many, many folks with neuropathy need really high levels of that. You should ask your doctor about taking this and the possibility of just getting the shots. Many of us have malaborption issues or genetic defects, thus the normal methylation process just doesn't work (this is why folks will look normal on labs in terms of blood levels) - 30+% of the population has the MTHFR defect (heterozygous) that I do, which means that you have low levels of the enzyme necessary for the body to make use of the B12. Note, I snipped the rest of the thread to keep this post from getting too long.
