Hi Arianna,

I finally broke down to buying a scale today. I went to Wal-Mart and bought a

digital scale for 29.00. I hope it's what I need. it weighs 1/18 of an ounce

instead of 1/10 like others recommend. Would that make a drastic difference?

I really appreciate your help on this. I will be expecting your reply:

rose@...

Thanks again,

Rose

Hi Rose, I am an avid soapmaker, and can help you with a basic

formula for soap, but would like to reiterate what the previous

poster said about a scale. It is definately not optional in

soapmaking. You cannot measure the ingredients by volume...it must be

done by weight or you are in danger of manufacturing a lye heavy or

lye shy soap. Once you get a scale, you can email me and I will help

you with a couple of base formulas that you can play around with to

create your own personal formula.

Making soap is so much fun that you'll soon find yourself addicted!!

Believe me...you'll be glad you bought the scale! You've already got

some wonderful oils and butters!

sorry Arianna, I meant 1/8th of an oz rather than 1/18.
