Guest guest
Dear One, First, your story is pretty much everyone's story. We all have been taught that if we don't get what we think we need then we will not have " enough " . Most of the people in this Group can relate to your situation. Here is what stood out to me in your post. " I need to worry about the money situation. " Is that true? It seems to be true. Can I really know that that is true? Not really. How does it make me feel when I think that thought? It makes me miserable, afraid and I feel like a victum. Can I see a reason to drop this thought, and I am not asking me to drop it? Definitely. Can I see a " peaceful reason " to keep this thought? Of course not! More importantly, who would I be without the belief that " I need to worry about the money situation. " ? I would simply be me, more peaceful and happier. TA: " I don't need to worry about the money situation. " Some thoughts: All any of us wants is to be happy. We have a story that it takes a certain amount of money before we can be happy. Actually, it is our story that is keeping us from being happy, now. We could inquire into our belief in a future in which there is " not enough " and find that we have no proof of that and the belief will let go of us and we may find ourselves happy now? Thank you for allowing me this opportunity to look into one of my old, dusty beliefs. Blessings, Steve D. > I think I need a little help. My situation is this: my husband is > divorcing me and trying to cut off support money. I am disabled and > have three medically challenged kids. I worry constantly about the > money situation, and I have done the inquiry, and of course I realize > that I would be a lot more serene without the thought " Ex is going to > cut off our money. " However, I am stuck on the turnaround. Here's > what I came up with: > > 1. I am afraid I am going to cut off our money. > 2. I am willing for my Ex to cut off our money. > 3. I look forward to my Ex cutting off our money. > > None of this makes any sense to me. What am I doing wrong here?

I think the premise behind this kind of turnaround is that it's about very literally loving what is, no matter what. Your Ex might cut off your money. If he does, that will be absolutely and inexorably What Is. But we tend to deny What Is when it seems too horrible to contemplate, as if our acceptance or lack of acceptance will change it. Which is like going down the river of life with our eyes pinched shut and our hands over our faces. Reality doesn't need our approval. It happens with or without us, and to say " I'm am willing for my Ex to cut off our money " is the same to me as saying " I am willing to live in reality, even THAT reality, rather than in denial of What Is. " That's like opening your eyes and seeing what's really around you. I don't know ultimately how much control we really have over what happens to us on the river of life (do we even have paddles?), but when I remember that I have the choice it is nice to see the sun. I don't know if you'll find that useful, but it's my interpretation at the moment.
