Guest guest
Blair, Thank you! I was wondering in my head what a raw egg does to a smoothy. Ok, the creaminess...that makes sense! That would also explain why eggnog is so popular (or was, before the cholesterol in eggs scare). My natural food store carries a nice range of organic juices. Included, one delicious pineapple/coconut juice blend (goes terrific with booze too, shh!). We did a real coconut the other day, the kids were fascinated with it, but it doesn't break up so well in the blender. So my boy turned up his nose at the rather gritty smoothy that resulted. Sigh. Ah, so it's a boy thing, and it's not me. I am going to have to find a way to empty out the shelf of boxed cereals without turning my husband off WAP principles for good! Next week, with no school, I will start trying smoothies in the morning for breakfast. Wish me luck! Smoothy Convert Sara Minnesota Re: Lunch Containers & Meals- Off Topic Hi, thought I'd pipe in here - you struck a chord on the breakfast issue...my kids won't eat any of the NT grain recipes. (Except the basic muffin.) ly, I wonder if some of them were tested before publication? I have had some luck with most of my family using a smoothie with kefir, banana, frozen blueberries, raw eggs, coconut oil and flaxseed. Add honey or maple syrup to taste. I also sneak in vitamin E,C and Cod liver oil (not too much or you can really taste it!). Don't tell them about the raw eggs, either - my older son found out and quit drinking them...every one else loves them. You can't taste the eggs; they just give the smoothie a nice creamy texture - and lots of good protein! That pretty well fills me up, but they also usually want some toast or other filler.Blend really well - the little ones (especially boys) hate lumps and chunks and bumps...some like it thick, others like it more liquid. I change flavors (coconut milk w/pineapple & banana, or frozen mixed berries, strawberries) throughout the week, but I know eventually they'll tire of smoothies, and I need some ideas, too!-Blair > , I agree with Kathy! I so loved the envious opinion of the mother's "That's gourmet lunches" ! I would so love some day to be sending OUR food in place of the school's hot lunch. I just don't feel so creative however. I would love to get some ideas, , as to what to send. I'm also really stuck on breakfasts- what NT breakfasts are easy and quick and goes well with kids? My boy isn't much into hot cereal.> Stuck Sara> Minnesota> ----- Original Message ----- >
Guest guest
Hi Sara, Just this week I mentioned to dh that he should consider having a more healthy start to his work day. Eating a natural but still sugary cereal isn’t going to do much for his health. I was thrilled to see him eating eggs and toast (sprouted wheat but not my own….yet J). We haven’t been doing smoothies lately but I think we will start again. warmly, Selena I am going to have to find a way to empty out the shelf of boxed cereals without turning my husband off WAP principles for good!
