would certainly want to know how he came to know about this book.

He had read what I wrote to tell others about this particular book. He

himself is an avid reader. He requested that I discuss books with him. I was

overjoyed. Not many people read books these days. Even if they did, who would

want to discuss what they read so intently with somebody. So I immediately

accepted his proposal.

surprised when I learned he too had begun the same way. We remembered the

childhood days when magazines like Chandamama, Lotpot, Parag and Nandini were

the favorites with many of us. They were addictive. The more we talked about

our early reading, the more I realised that we had similar interests.

to each other's. It has not been limited just to naming books. A real reader is

the one who can describe the book in such a manner that the other person

understands the author, imagines the story and believes the characters to be

true. This person  can do it in this very manner. I find our exchanges

interesting and stimulating.

Dear Rakesh,

I can understand your feeling.Bharat should have commented on your letter, which

would have been easy for him considering his flair for writing. If you appreciate

something good ,you get a feeling of sharing it.More so if it is a good

book.Bharat can be eloquent and express his feelings lyrically being a gifted

one.The best part of Gurucharan Das's book mentioned is ,its introduction,it

gives a rare insight of author's thinking, his biases and his life.I would like

you to read " 100 great books " by Rupa Publication. It is about ,well....100 great

books selected by the author from Bible to Three Men in a Boat. The best part is

the way each book is explained by the personality and virtues of the writer!

I can safely recommend both to you and Bharat ,Emperor of all the

maladies,Biography of cancer.I have given a review on Flipcart also.I also

purchased it from Flipcart.

Happy reading
