Guest guest
Welcome to our group!! I have found this site to be very informative and comforting, as I am not the ONLY mother to experience these difficulties. I hav efound it difficult to try to explain that there is MDS. On Monday, while at basketball, one of the other moms was really confused. She thought that Nat had Autism like her son. So, once again, another teaching moment. As for DS features, I have found that it is easier to see Nat's features when he is with other DS people and when he smiles. Amy enjoy your Luke!! He will give you joys beyond your imagination. The world is so much more simple for our kids. I know that Nat has changed everything for us for the better. He is challenging, but not as much as my other children. Can't wait to hear more about your Luke and his developments. Also, I need to put in a " plug " for IMDSA. I am the membership chairperson and I want to invite you to become a member. It is $25 annually. When you become a member, you will recieve a welcome packet, be able to join in our monthly chats with various experts, recieve our newsletter and recieve a discount for our annual convention, which will be held in June in Houston,TX. If you are interested, please visit our website at www.imdsa.com and click on the information button, this will lead you to the membership area. Take care and Happy New Year!! Irene mom to Nat10 MDS, Luke 8, Emilia 5, Lillian 3, and Isaac 1 yr old yesterday!! I did not have any of the pretesting, so it was a surprise that Luke has DS. After a testing by the hospital " just to be sure " , it was confirmed that Luke has Mosaic. Now I'm trying to find out all I can about it and converse with other people who have been affected by it. No health problems for Luke yet (crossing my fingers!) other than mitral valve prolapse (heart) but the cardiologist isn't concerned about it right now. Anyway, sorry this is long, but my question is: have any of you with older children seen a decrease in the physical characteristics of DS as they have aged? My son has the facial features of DS, but sometimes when I glance at him, his eyes seem to be changing shape. Is it just me?
