On daughter acquiring Dr

Dear friends,

Eight weeks ago, students from the batch of 2007 took their final MBBS

practical examination. They were eagerly awaiting their results since. A

week ago, the Nashik Medical University finally revealed what they were

upto.

Of the 55 students who took exam, 50 passed. An unusually good result? Not

really.Because these days the odds are very low that an average medical

student would fail. Amrita, my daughter and a MGIMS student, also

succeeded. She now proudly displays a prefix, “Dr” before her name.

Bhavana and I are happy to share with you that Amrita obtained top rank in

her class- number one in Medicine, Surgery and Pediatrics and second in Ob

Gy.

We indeed are pleased and would like to thank everyone who helped Amrita

acquire clinical skills and knowledge during her student days. Now Amrita

will soon discover what internship is all about- filling the forms,

obtaining blood samples, measuring blood pressure and running errands!

Congrats Dr Kalantri

It is but natural-to some extent NOT amazing that she has done so well. Any

child who inherits genes from such highly intellgent parents and has a highly

academic atmosphere in the home imbibes the values of hard work, struggle and

honesty. This is not being written to say that her achievement is negligible.I

wud have been surprised had she not done so well.

I hope and pray that she continues to make U proud.

Dr Shah (with almighty's grace) there is one subject (out if TEN) where females

have a negative bias working against them - even there she is 2nd.

Do they collect their certificates from Nagpur University or travel all the

way to Nashik? I remember collecting mine from Nagpur University.

Dr. Ravin,

Every district has a government and a private medical college. Plus the

dental and colleges of ayurveda, homeopathy etc. It had become too large to

manage. Hence a separate university designed to look after medical and allied

sciences had been set up. It has also helped in uniformity as far as curriculum,

examinations are concerned. Sanjeev [84]
