Guest guest
Tell me what you would think of this. When they started the infusion Thursday they hung a bag of saline beside the bottle of IVIG to use as a pre and post tubing flush. Because they set up the tubing wrong the saline was infusing instead of the IVIG. Well this went on for two hours. Slowly Macey's temperature was going up. By the time it was noticed we had gone through a 50 cc bag of saline. The tubing was switched and the IVIG was begun. Slowly the fever came down. SO.... what we are considering is that she reacted to the saline. Now I know that sounds weird but Macey's never had Saline run in her. It's always been D5 or LR's. It's just too weird that while the saline was infusing she developed the fever and when it was stopped and IVIG started it went away. Everyone would be really tickled to hear that IVIG infusion got rid of a fever instead of causing one. So is this coincidental or could she have reacted to the saline? Anyone got any bright ideas or heard of anything similar?
