Dear all:

I am happy to share with you that the Maharashtra State Medical

University

has adjudged Dr MVR Reddy, Head, Department of Biochemistry,MGIMS as

the

best medical teacher of the University.

Sure enough, the news has sent waves of happiness on campus. For, there

are

few teachers in the institute who can enthuse, educate and entertain

medical

students as much as Reddy can. Admittedly, for most of us, chemistry is

a

dull and drab subject- we have never been able to pedal Kreb's cycle

and few

of us can tread on Embden Meherhof pathway with ease- but when Reddy

teaches, he does so with a passion that is exemplary and zeal that is

so

contagious. More important, he treats his students with respect and

gives

them enough freedom and space to ask questions and get rid off cobwebs

of

confusion. As one who has taught Biochemistry for over three decades in

Sevagram, Reddy ensures that in his classrooms and labs the mind

is without fear and the head is held high- to borrow Rabindranath

Tagore's

words.

Reddy has already so many feathers on his cap that I have lost counts.

But

this is a feather which he should be justifiably proud of.

And today, we bask in his reflected glory!

Congratulations, Reddy. May your chalk continue to cut carbs, proteins,

fats

and enzymes to their proper sizes on the blackboard.

Please convey our congratulations to him.

The biochemistry department in MGIMS always had this team of so dedicated

teachers led by Mr Harinath. They always injected so much enthusiasm into

their lectures it was difficult to be anything but interested during them.

This is a wonderful news..............having been his student i have great

memories of biochemistry department.............all the teachers were so

wonderful and helpful.........

If i go back into the memory lane one teacher who made a big impact in my

student life at Sevagram was Dr. Ghosh (Anatomy)...........he was a driving

spirit when i had lost all hope and helped to get over and get on with my

professional life and it was well after passing out of MBBS and when i was doing

my PG.............not even a day goes by and i think him for making me do the

genetics workshop in sevagram and one thing led to another..............where i

landed in the world of stem cells..........

Everyday of my life i owe him so much since 2009 i became one of the first

indian and one of the few asian's to become an assessor for AABB (american

association of blood banking) as an expert for stem cells and cellular

therapies auditing and accrediting world class adult stem cell banks and

cellular therapy units worldwide.........

Heartiest congratulations Dr Reddy !!

Biochemistry is intimidating, but not in Dr Reddy's class. Not only is he a

teacher par excellence, he is very encouraging and kind.

This award really honors his singleminded devotion and dedication to teaching

and to his students.

While you are in every student's best teacher list, I am sure this gives you

tremendous satisfaction to be nominated as the best teacher in Maharashtra.

Ashok and Renuka, 1984

p.s. It is also heartwarming to read the tribute from one master to another. One

can easily say the same for Professor Kalantri who also is a phenomenal teacher

and clinician. Hats off to you too sir.

Congrats Dr Reddy! Now that your name is enshrined in the annals of MGIMS

permanently, should we call you 'Ever-Reddy'?

Indeed it is very surprising!

Not that Dr Reddy is not ready for the honour.

But it is surprising that such a magnificent institute with such best

teachers can produce such idiots like me!

Dear SP,

Thanks for your kindexpressions in the mail...and for sharing these

with the MGIMS alumni.

Your words in the mail are so encouraging and inspiring ...for me they

matter more than any award. Let me confess on this occasion... I have

learnt and picked up from your humbleness and humility ...many virtues

which I keep trying to carry. As Dr Ashok Bhaskar rightly mentioned, it

is heartening to hear such nice views from an avid academician and

physician of your stature.

I am in fact very much humbled for this touching award. I would like to

devote this award as my respectful tribute to many colleague faculty

members at our institute, who have been the most admirable teachers

having many more accomplishments than the little things I have achieved

in this field.

The faith and encouragement from the authorities...the guidance of

senior faculty...the support of colleagues ...and the affection from our

alumni, present students & all known in the campus count very much in

our journey as teachers.

I can only say Thanks to all!

Regards

MVR Reddy
