Guest guest
Annette, Kali Bic-Kali Bichromicum is a homeopathic medicine. According to our naturopath, it can be taken with almost any other meds, but I would check first. My son had a recurrent sinus infection for over one year. The antibodics helped, but he never really cleared up. He took kali bic for 5 days, 2x a day in liquid form. His nose drained for about 3 days....the grossest thing i have ever seen. Huge globs of green infection. By the end of the 5th day, his sinuses were clear and have stayed clear since April. Kali bic is used to treat colds with nasal congestion and thick irritating nasal discharge. He was also on several other homeopathics, but I've researched them and this appears to be the only one that really clears the sinuses. has had two colds so far this fall and the naturopath has helped him clear each cold without further complications.....so much different than what we've been through for the past 2 years. Kali bic can be purchased at any good health food store-generally about $7-12 for a bottle, which will last a lifetime. Let me know if you decide to give it a try, I'd like to know how you make out. BTW, if you ask you immono about homeopathics, you probably won't find much support. All I know is that I took a every ill toddler to the naturopath and he has helped us to improve the quality of life for my son. Good Luck. sandra
Guest guest
Alan: Hope you saw my explaination of kali bic I sent to Annette. For anyone interesting in homeopathics, our dr. is in St. s, Ontario, Canada. There are a couple of organizations that maybe able to help find a good dr: American Association of Naturopathic Physicians 2366 Eastlake Ave E Suite 322 Seattle, WA also National College of Naturopathic Medicine 11231 SE Market ST Portland, OR If you go to a naturopath, first visit will cost $75-$100 plus $10-$20 for medicine. Thereafter it should be ~$35-50 per visit and less for the meds as your child improves. A good naturopath will teach you how to treat yourself so you don't need to run to them all the time. I know one month we spent well over $300 in insurance copays for the regular US drs, with poor results. In total for 6 months and 5 visits to the naturopath, we've spent ~$300 and have a much improved child. Good Luck.
Guest guest
: What is the Kali Bic? 's immunologist gave us the ok to try some milder forms of herbal and homeopathic medicines while he's off the IVIG, but I haven't heard of this. We have been trying to find an doctor for consult, but our HMO refuses to help us pay for it. So, we are now looking into things ourselves and then calling his current doctors for advice before giving him anything. I hate giving either of my boys any medicines, but when things get to a certain point, like now, I'm willing to try anything. Let me know about it and I'll check it out. BTW, I called the school nurse and asked her about the strep issue--she said that this policy has always had her bothered. Now she's going to try to implicate a schoolwide policy--just at 's school--because of his immune status. She said that an active infection could be more contagiuos than chicken pox. I will also approach our school board member and the health department about this issue. My husband says I'm overreacting, but I really don't want to have to deal with a child having a strep infection. Thanks for the encouragement! Guest guest
Thank you for the information I am going to take it to my immunologist on friday. I think both homeopathy and traditional medicine should work hand in hand. sincerely, annette and alissa >From: T0872@... >Reply-To: PedPIDonelist >To: PedPIDonelist >Subject: Re: Sinus problems >Date: Tue, 2 Nov 1999 13:28:38 EST > >Annette, > >Kali Bic-Kali Bichromicum is a homeopathic medicine. Guest guest
> As for the echinecea (sp?), it is safe for children, >just watch your dosages. Sue & , You also have to be careful w/echinacea with the stomach. It's very tough on it. Esp if you already have GERD or other stomach troubles. An alternative choice could be goldenseal. It's down sides are it tastes terrible and you can become immune to it if taken too often.
