Guest guest
Dear all, The first successful demonstration of ether anesthesia on October 16, 1846, ranks as one of the most significant events in the history of Medicine. It took place at the Massachusetts General Hospital, home of the Harvard School of Medicine. Today,Advancements in all the surgical fields is possible just because of discovery of Anesthesia. I.e., where the patient actually can hear the surgeons talking or the music playing while under GA !! Guest guest
Dear Ashok Sir,      The condition you mentioned is known as " Awareness during Anaesthesia " . It is one of the most horrifying experiences a patient can have during surgery. Inadequate Anaesthesia is one of the reasons. There are monitors nowadays ( " BIS " ),  that supposetly can measure awareness during Anaesthesia in real time but there are reports of patients having awareness during its monitoring too. I have heard that in US most Anaesthesiologists are prone to get sued for awareness only. In India people are still not that much aware of the awareness during Anaeshesia and even if it happens most people take it as normal. As an Anaesthesiologist what we can do is to maintain adequate depth of Anaesthesia and if possible measure BIS.  Sanjay ________________________________ To: " mgims " <mgims > Sent: Sunday, 16 October 2011 9:12 PM Subject: Re: World Anaesthesia Day  Dear Sanjay, Can you enlighten us about the near death experience some patients have ?
