For an autistic child, is VERY good with not having to have a definite plan. If I say, "Hey! Let's go to the store!" he's more than happy to just up and go!

Yes, YES and YES!!!! It ranges, on a good day things aren't as anxiety ridden. What has helped for us is that we try to do as much prep as we can. Let him know what is the plan for the day. Make sure he is aware of stops. It sounds easy..lol. It isn't especially for someone who used to just drop and go. Run out to the store whenever. Wa told off this morning because forget to ell Nic we were stiopping to get gas on the way home from dropping Daddy off at work. Was not in the plan. ...Mom to ,4 (Chronic Severe Asthma); and Nicolas 6, (High Functioning Autism or PDD-NOS, Hyperlexia/Semantic-Pragmanticdisorder; General Developmental Delay (2 years delayed); Expressive Receptive Language Disorder; Mild Intellectual Impairment; Sensory Integration Issues) wrote: I can't remember if I had already asked this - I had meant to, but I'm not sure if I got around to it. So if this is a repeat question, forgive me. :) Do your kids have anticipatory anxiety? says, "No! I don't want to go! I'm scared!" whenever we go anywhere now (well, he's ok with stores and things, but I mean things more like the YMCA, school, etc.). Sometimes I figure maybe I should just stay home but then that would be showing him that he can quit whenever he feels like it, which isn't good. But I also don't want him to be so nervous about things. Can anyone relate? Mommy to (8/20/97) http://www.geocities.com/Heartland/Bluffs/2654/ Keep smiling! People will wonder what you're up to! :)

Hannah, too, is pretty relaxed about not following a specific routine,

however, if I say we are going to do something, and then have to change the

plans she sometimes gets a little riled up. Especially if the plans were

something she was looking forward to. But then again, I think any 4 year old

kid may react that way.
