Guest guest
Forgive me as I am about 3 mo. behind on everything due to not having a phone or internet. I was recently switched out from my Xanex to a different med. which seems to make a HUGE difference for me. Lorazepam at 0.5 mg. That is the lowest dosage. But when things get super bad, my Dr. said to go to 1.0 mg. That makes me a bit sleepy, but when things are very crazy, tuning out helps me get through the moment. Just a sugguestion. I was told by my Dr. that Lorazapam is much less addictive also. Good luck. Anita > > Having battled CFS for 23 years with the waxing/waning 15 plus symptoms (most difficult being neurological with intense brain-fog, inability to do math, dizzy, disoriented, and others such as prostatitis,IBS,GERD,TMJ,fatigue of course), this year brings a new challenge. I've managed to work, stressful job, especially when my mental abilities seem to decline each year. I guess I'm getting anxiety/depression. I wake each night at 2am, constantly worrying about my ability to do my job(on the edge of losing it all/health insurance etc. I've tried Pristiq and Xanax this year and these have not helped. I seem paralyzed with fear, tight chest, can't breath in deep, have a blank-state of mind when it comes to my job - don't remember how to do it! Is this part of the disease process of CFS, or something all together different. I live in Austin,TX - no CFS Doctors around. My primary care said 3-.25 Xanax/day, and 30 mg Cymbalta (no relief from Xanax, and too early to tell from Cymbalta - on day 6 now. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated - help! >
Guest guest
Lorazepam is an horrendous drug - I became addicted to it many years ago and had the most horrible withdrawal symptoms when I did come off of it, very slowly I might add. Took 2 years to come off. Apparently it is quite a miracle for anyone to some off of lorazepam, as it is reported to be harder to come off than coming off of herion!!!! Steer clear if you can. Guest guest
As a mental health professional, I suspect that your experience of taking two years to detox from lorazepam was quite unusual. Without knowing more of your circumstances, I make no judgments, but I would not worry about becoming addicted to such medication nor detoxing from it, IF ONE TAKES IT AS DIRECTED BY A COMPETENT PHYSICIAN. All such drugs should be taken in as low a dose and for as short a time as possible, anyway.
