Hi Bree Anne,

Sorry to hear you were denied. Yes, only a Request for

Reconsideration form is needed - BUT, here's my thoughts on this:

since SS sent you all the forms, go ahead and complete them again. I

know this is a major pain, but something tells me your folder at SS

is showing that it is 'incomplete', so it won't hurt to fill out

these forms again.

Hopefully you have copies of what you sent before, so get those out

and resubmit the info to SS. For future use, all the SS Forms are

available to download on your computer at the SS website

http://www.ssa.gov/online/

I hope you get a favorable decision, but, if needed, by all means,

get an attorney if the Reconsiderdation is denied. Save this link to

the NOSSCR site in case you need to find an attorney who specializes

in this work http://www.nosscr.org/ toll free phone number is (800)

Hi Bree-Anne,

I, too, was denied for disability in Aug. 2005. I immediately got an attorney

who has filed all the necessary paperwork to appeal the

decision. I am awaiting an Administrative Law Judge hearing (this

makes me very nervous to have to go before a judge). It has been

over a year and my long term disabilty is ending in January. Not

sure how we'll meet our bills, but there is no way I am able to work

anymore. Waiting is so difficult and the stress doesn't help. Hope

you get a good lawyer and receive good advice.

Thank you everyone for the responses. It is encouraging yet

discouraging that there are others in the same boat.

gretchen,

i will fill out all of the forms they sent me. I don't have anything

that I submitted them before cos I applied by a phone interview and I only had

to fill out the forms requesting medical releases.

I believe that my medical info was insufficiant and I'm not sure what to do

about this. I need to have my records sent from way in the past.

I need to show that I was unable to work before 2001. I think that my doctors

just sent recent info saying that I was diagnosised.

I'm not too sure what they have saying I was having problems prior to this date.

iI know that there is stuff in my med records that could possibly help, but I

don't think that the doc offices are thinking it is revalent. I'm not sure how

to go about this process.

I surely would like to get disability if it is deemed that I am truely unable to

work, but I don't want to " use the system " if I am able to work. Do you know

what i mean??

I almost let it go and accepted the fact that I was denied

until I found out that the correct medical info wasn't sent. I at

least want to have the correct info studies to make a determination.

How do you recommend that I go about making sure the correct info is

sent? Should I make an appointment with my PCP and talk to him about

it? when i filed I went to the office and asked them to give me the

info to send and they wouldn't do it that way, they said that I would ahve to

fill out the release form and have SSI send that and get it.

I keep telling myself that this will be worth the trouble if I am

determined disabled. I know that part of me would like to accept that I was not

determined disabled and i know that this is just me wanting to be in denial cos

my diagnosis is still a " fresh wound " that I would like to wish away or deny the

seriousness of it.

I hope all for this rambling makes sense :)
