Guest guest
Welcome . And thanks so much for sharing your introduction with us. " Hereditary Neuropathies " is a very broad term - there are many, besides CMT (also known as HMSN) that fall under this, including the peripheral neuropathy of Frederich's Ataxia and Diabetic Neuropathy for openers. I understand your concern for the family and future generations. While my CMT was diagnosed as a child, I have yet to target the actual hereditary pattern. I'm 54, both parents deceased, along with grandparents, cousins, etc. My only sibling was adopted at birth, so I am 'the only one' with CMT. But I have read enough research to know the CMT gene has evolved along with the human species from gorilla days about 7 million years, so CMT/HMSN is in my 'family' somewhere. You're doing what a great many of us do - watching our diet and nutritional needs, exercising, focusing on what's positive and also resting. I have never considered myself to be 'fighting' this syndrome, but once I truly accepted it in my heart (I was about 27) and started focusing on what I CAN DO, my whole attitude and outlook on life changed for the better. I hope you find to be a positive source of energy, helpful and hopeful. Spend some time reviewing our Files and previous posts too.
