Guest guest
Hi all, I do not post often but I do read the posts that come thru. I have been struggling with energy levels and being able to work. I am in a position where I must work f/t to support myself. It has been a difficult 2.5 years since my diagnosis. I was working f/t but lost my job last december due to the disability. I could not prove it so I was not able to receive any compensation. I found employment in Feb of this year, but the stress of that job was wreaking havoc on the condition. The end of Sept. I left my f/t job and began a p/t position with a not for profit agency. I love the job BUT I am unable to continue as I am financially sinking fast. Not enough $ to support myself. I have been working 21 hours/week with Big Brothers Big Sisters as a caseworker and then filling in 2 days/week at a furniture store as a comission sales person. I just resigned from the BBBS jobs I can not work enough hours to make $ at the furniture store. Despite my negative experiences with " disability " and holding a job, both these employers have been great. I only hope working 40 hours/week on my feet, will be ok. the manager is awesome in that he is more than willing to work around my aches/pains and energy level. How have other people managed with working and CMT? I am from Alberta Canada and I have done some inquiries into getting some assistance. I am not sure what I can get, how to get it and what the limitations on any working are. In reality I am not ready to lay down and let this disease dictate my lifestyle, yet it is becoming harder and harder to function. I am soooo tired and it takes forever for me to gain energy to do a day's work! anyone from Canada - alberta would even be better so I can chat about issues that we can access etc in Canada? I am very thankful for this group itis great. I admire those of you who are so " up " I have not yet really accepted this disease and feel I havevery little support. I am making progress however, but it has taken a long time! thanks al for hearing my rant
