a timer? Maybe if you let her set it, for say, 2 mins, or whatever you think

it might take, she'd get a kick out of waiting for it to go off?

has the bowel disease, so, we never dealt with potty training with him

in any traditional way.

Hope,

My other children have problems with ureteral reflux, and have been seeing a

urologist. These are some of her suggestions on keeping up good bladder health

and emptying.

1. have your daughter urinate on an every 2 hr regime

2. have her sit on the toilet with her legs spread apart, to facillitate

emptying

3. stay away from carbonation, as it is a bladder irritant

4. make sure she has plenty of fiber, as not emptying the bowel well will cause

a back up. My husband found out that because of his reluctance to eliminate

completely well as a child, caused him to loose fuction of on of his

kidneys!!(This has helped with our 8 yr old's motivation to go on a regular

baisis!!)

Hope this was helpful.

We have been working on potty training around here and actually things

have gone well except for the fact that is not really emptying

her bladder when she goes to potty. She will tell me she has to potty.

She will use the potty, but then may still wet within minutes of going.

It seems she is just not patient enough to sit there until she is

finished. Has anyone else experienced this with their child? I don't

want to force her to sit there because I want this to be a pleasant

experience. I have tried to give her books to occupy her a little longer

but this has not seemed to help. Any ideas?

Hope

I have been enjoying everyone's suggestions on this! The running water thing is

an excellent idea...I did it myself....only problem is, now everytime my grown

children hear water running they have to run to the bathroom! LOL But, I do

agree it is a fantastic idea.

On Irene's note of having her spread her legs....when my children were training,

I would put them on the big potty backwards with their legs spread apart

straddling the toilet. They were able to climb on the toilet easily that way and

there was no fear of falling in. Also, when we were in other places away from a

training potty, there was never a worry about how they were going to go.

Also...it was fun...lol.

Maybe if you tell her to push her hand on her tummy to make sure she is through?

Maybe that would make her go some more. You of course, do not want her to

strain, but it may help her feel that her bladder is not empty.

Hope this helps!
