Hi la....your biopsy sounds horrible...I think I would've totally

freaked out. Yes a bx will show damage, if any, & it will give drs a clearer

path to treatment.

Love Jan

Yay Tina, that is wonderful! I am happy for her

I hope I can heal my adrenals and not need to take anything for them

soon. I think sometimes it is the untreated thyroid that stresses

them, so when the thyroid is ok they can heal after a while.

Well you never know if they will always be impaired after going

through all of this. I am sure she will have more stresses in her

life where she will have to support the adrenals again. But now at

least she is well aware of what to look for and how to help herself.

I also did the BP test to double check how they were holding up---you

lie down and take your BP--upon rising slowly you take it again. Last

time she did this her BP dropped 20 points---VERY Adrenal---this time

her BP went up 10---YEA YEA YEA---this is very normal.

So now onto the thyroid!!!She may always have to take something, but

that does not bother us in the least--as long as we can become stable

and her health keeps on improving.

The true healing will be when she gets that period now going on

almost 2 years!!

Yes I do think the untreated thyroid must do damgage to the adrenals--

-she has had this for a long time. Just like everyone else before

they find out exactly what is going on. A good point we should all

look at them as well.

Yeah, I don't see what the big deal with " taking medication for life "

is. There is tons of things we have to do for life to be healthy,

from eating healthy (which is harder than taking meds - more time

involved in shopping and preparing the food) to brushing our teeth to

taking vitamins. So taking a little thyroid pill is not that big of a

deal.

Great summary . I found it very informative and frankly reassuring to be in a room with people who shared the same concerns.

Janice

The Canadian (as Dr. Rai kept calling me :-) )

LA

Hi CIG people -

The LA Seminar was, in my opinion, a terrific experience for CLLers.

We had two sessions back to back, with lunch in the middle, lasting from 11 to almost 2. There were about 35-40 people.

First Dr. Kipps gave an authoritative talk about CLL, with a good deal of focus about new avenues that are being explored.

The Dr. Rai took the podium, and instead of continuing, turned the session into an hour and a half of two way discussion and Q & A. Needless to say, there were many controversial question.

I believe that the principal impression I came away with from Dr. Kipps' talk was the innumerable questions being explored in order to understand and change the pathways by which a CLL cancer is born.

Dr. Rai's chief message was "do not treat unnecessarily". He cited several examples where a patient/onclogist relationship had evolved into a series of not very meaningful tests and TXs.

Dr. Kipps' talk will be on webcast at http://www.lymphoma.org/ in about two weeks.

Both sessions (as well as all sessions) can be obtained on audio tape. I have some forms, and can fax them to you if you have a fax number. I do not have the forms electronically.

I will send another e-mail soon, summarizing some impressions I came away with.

Hi /la - I noticed where you were placing the DailyOm on the message board. I would love it if you would like to continue doing that. Only if you want to and when you feel well enough. Let me know what you think? Take good care.

hugs Carlene
