Hi Malini,

Here are some tips for a wonderful time in Walt Disney world ( one of our

favorite vacation destinations !)

First buy the " unofficial guide " to Walt Disney world...don't get intimidated by

its size ( the book)

WDW is truly a world ( can be intimidating ) in itself and this is the best

guide to navigate through the myriad of attractions and get the best for your

time &  money.

Plan on staying in one of their resorts....while the economy level is marginally

more expensive..you will save a a lot of time by avoiding time spent in

commuting. Parking and waiting for the shuttle to take you from the parking lot

to the park itself can take lot of time.

Economy resorts have very convenient bus service and luxury resorts have train

service ( and more perks). Plus the " magical " experience continues as you get

ready to go to bed.

Staying at the resorts gets you extra time at the parks: before and after the

park's opening for the general public. You can save time with minimal waiting

times for the most popular attractions. The wait times can be pretty

intimidating...sometimes almost like the wait at Tirumala ( Balaji).

Buy the 7 day park hopper pass -- it will give you the advantage of going to

more than one park on the same day and you will have flexibility of going to any

park on any day i.e., you don't have to go to the parks on 7 simultaneous days.

Get a rental car - even though you won't use it to go to Disney attractions ( if

you stay on one of their resorts ) you will need it to go to other attractions,

namely  Universal studios ( allow 3 days)

& Sea World. Universal has the new Harry Potter attraction. Other 'do not miss'

attraction there is the studio tour -- where they show you how they create

scenes...such as floods, earthquakes etc. Then there are the water parks.

Then allow time to drive and visit nearby NASA space station and then a day or

two on the atlantic coast.

Be ready for hot & muggy weather this time of the year. Keep electrolyte ( ORS)

powder on hand.

When you are in WDW you truly are in a different world. Even the highway signs

are a different color- orange and purple.

If you guys like to use your imagination ( like Mickey says) and like the world

of make believe, then you truly are in for a magical experience.

It is good that you are going to spend so many days at WDW- you cannot enjoy it

at a rushed pace. And to have the maximum amount of fun - get the Unofficial

guide which to me is a God send.

Unofficial guide is a series with books for many cities - American and abroad.

More in next,

Hi everybody,

We got back from a trip to the US a couple of weeks ago. We had spent a couple

of days with Ashok and Renuka in Chicago - and had an absolutely wonderful time

there. Jet lag did not stop us from chatting way into the night ! Aisha and

Aditya are absolutely adorable children, extremely well brought up, and both

Ashok and Renuka have enough reason to be truly proud of them ! Divya and Aisha

have been friends for quite a while now - and - I was just thinking - I came

back from the US with lingering nostalgia for Sewagram - a symptom of a

globalised world, perhaps ?

There are some photos of our trip that I could upload - with effort :-) , but a

simpler (and more efficient) way might be to mail the pictures to Kishoreda, in

the hope that he could find the time to upload them - could I do that, Kishoreda

?
