Guest guest
So, what is everybody doing for summer camp for their kids? What are the best and most affordable options? I am at a loss, I need to put THREE children in camp for the entire summer and can't afford what most camps cost. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Guest guest
Hi B, Do you know what week during summer Joy Ministry of First Methodist Houston Westchester summer camp is offered? Another church having a one week summer camp is Tallowood Baptist Church. Grace Presbyterian Church, Memorial Drive United Methodist Church, Memorial Drive Presbyterian Church, Tallowood Baptist Church, First United Methodist Church-Westchase, and Chapelwood United Methodist Church team up to provide a week for children with special needs. Activities include games, recreation, cooking, arts and crafts, Bible lessons and stories, music and a field trip. This summer the camp will be held at Tallowood Baptist Church at 555 Tallowood Drive for children ages 4 and up with special needs. Siblings in 4-5th grade are welcomed and can participate as helpers. Registered nurse present at all times. Last year this camp was held at Memorial Drive Presbyterian Church and my son attended. He had a great time and he loved all the attention he got from the volunteers. I think the ratio was something like 2:1, that is 2 volunteers to one child. I think the camp was the 4th week in July last summer but I haven't heard when Tallowood's camp will be held yet. Cost: $100 per child (max of $150 per family), my son brought home a craft project everyday, he received a t-shirt, a canvas tote and Bible story activities. He still plays with the beach scene " snow-globe " he made at camp. I just had to pack his lunch daily for him to take. CReece **************Ideas to please picky eaters. Watch video on AOL Living. Guest guest
Have a summer camp idea. Check out art classes for special needs kids at ARt Mix on West Alabama. Their website is www.artmixlearning.com and we used them last summer and fall and were very pleased with the staff. Very professional, very calm, accomodating, and my hyperactive child actually produced some art and ended with a love for art, painting, drawing, glueing, etc. For further questions, I would suggest calling Jacquelyn, the owner. She taught special ed and is very committed to what our children need. -Lyn H. ________________________________________________________________________________\ ____ Looking for last minute shopping deals? Guest guest
The Joy Ministry of First Methodist Houston Westchester is offering a summer camp every year for differently abled children and their siblings. It's called the JOY camp and run by Sterling () or tsterling@.... My kids have never participated but I know of one family here on this board that loves them. Here's the flier that I received: Beach Party: Surfin' Through the Scriptures Let us love, not in word or speech, but in truth and action. 1 3:18 Our JOY Summer Camp 2008 takes your kids (JOY kids/youth and their siblings) on an exciting journey to the ocean where they will learn the basics of surfing, ride the wave of God's love, and go home with a new Beach-Be Attitude! Having a Beach Be-Attitude means being obedient, kind, forgiving, bold, and believing. Our annual JOY Summer Camp will have cool beach music reminiscent of the Beach Boys, and a Surf 'n' Sand Science Lab that will keep your kids engaged and mesmerized with easy-to-do activities that bring home that day's Bible teaching and Be-Attitude. Day to Day Lessons: Day One: Be Obedient Bible Story: The Call of Gideon (Judges 6:14-15; 6:36-7:21) Bible Verse: Obey my voice, and I will be your God, and you shall be my people. – 7:23 Day Two: Be Kind Bible Story: 's Kindness to Mephibosheth (2 9:1-11) Bible Verse: As God's chosen ones, holy and beloved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, meekness, and patience. – Colossians 3:12 Day Three: Be Forgiving Bible Story: The Parable of the Unforgiving Servant ( 18:21- 33) Bible Verse: And be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, as God in Christ has forgiven you. – Ephesians 4:32 Day Four: Be Bold Bible Story: A Woman Healed (Luke 8:40-48) Bible Verse: And this is the boldness we have in him, that if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us. – 1 5:14 Day Five: Believe Bible Story: Jesus and ( 20:24-29) Bible Verse: Blessed are those who have not seen and yet have come to believe. – 20:29b
Guest guest
Does anyone have any ideas about what's going on in Austin for teens this summer? There seems to be camps for the under 12 set-- how about 15-16 yr olds? Or, any contacts with someone who would let us pay for time in either music studios or theater for technical skills? Thanks, --- kgreeceman@... wrote: > Hi B, > > Do you know what week during summer Joy Ministry of First Methodist > Houston > Westchester summer camp is offered? Guest guest
K2 academy of kids sports on Louetta near Eldrige and Grant offered an integrated gymnastics camp last year. The kids did not have to be potty trained and were supported by a " shadow " to help them transition, follow instructions, etc. You can reach through their website www.k2academy.com
