Guest guest
Crap - I leave for one minute and the cat starts playing with the computer - bad kitty! They're always messin' with my stuff. Sorry about that. So where was I going with this crazy theory.... When women started getting sick - or at least being recognized as sick - with this disease back in the 80s (at least that is when I remember hearing of it) it was a double kick in the pants. The underlying tone was " We told you, you can't handle work outside of the home. " Also, since almost all medical testing was done on men at the time, they either had to attribute it to our vaginas or our heads. Think of the massive amounts of money psychiatry would lose if these diseases were found to be physically real, and not manifestations of the mind? Not only would psychiatry lose but so would big pharma, because we all know the shrinks and the pill makers are tight, tight, tight. I mean, ten years ago, even fibro was considered a " mind problem " by most. But now that big pharma is making pills and showing commercials, well hey... if it's on TV, it must be real! I mean, look how long it took for them to even take Gulf War Illness seriously, the people who fought for our country being ignored! But I digress.. If I am also correct, Mr. Obama, once again, authorized about 65-68 billion monopoly dollars for research. And the best way to get research money? And illness that is killing people or is related to cancer - that's were XMRV comes in to play. (And let's face it: our disease(s)are miserable, but it's not actually killing most of us.) There's a possible link to CFS, a possible link to cancer - everybody starts fighting for the money. The WPI is a private institute, and has a vested interest, therefore, they are automatically " discredited " as being bias on any positive work they do or any positive results they conclude. And the Lake Tahoe incident is considered " an anamoly " , so it's easy to write off. And THAT, friends and neighbors, is my big conspiracy theory. Regardless if it's even marginally true, it is ALWAYS about the money. Not that I sit around thinking about this alot... 8-P ljg > > What I don`t understand is " why " is it they all seem to be in such a hurry to discredit the WPI `s findings. > Could it be politically motivated? > > > nne~
