Zach update

Hi All,

As I told you earlier, Zach has been pretty healthy these days. And this

has lead us to a major turning point for us. We decided to research schools

again. Although I love homeschooling and think that he's doing much better

academically than he would in school, he's getting bored. There are

homeschool groups that I could get involved in, but it's alot of work and

worse yet, tons of driving. We live in Atlanta and traffic is horrendous

here. Soooooo, I called a new private school that just opened up 5 miles

from our home (the school he used to go to was 27 miles 1 way). We went &

checked it out & it's great. The facility is perfect. Each classroom has

an outside adjoining classroom, and they work outside at least 1 hr a day

(fresh air = less germs). Each class room has a sink, & children wash hands

often. The class has maximum 15 children (Zach's #15, no more openings)

(the way I figure that's 10-15 less germs compared to the 25-28 in public

schools). Zach had to take an admissions test & of course aced it. But get

this....the best thing is that the principal's nephew is also a PID patient

on IVIg. She has a profound understanding of the illness and is willing to

jump through hoops to help us out. She recommended that we start Zach

after his next infusion, and start him 3 1/2 days/week, then 3 full days /wk

for 2 weeks, then 5 1/2 days for a week then go to 5 full days (which will

be after his next infusion). It so funny, after Tom & I left her office, I

said I felt like I just spoke w/a Dr. instead of a principal. She was

concerned that we don't stress his body too much to start. She was aware of

the high energy level after infusions & the behavioral changes w/illness.

We met w/the teacher today and she seems willing to cooperate.

I just feel like the Lord has sent us on this path. Fate has made all the

pieces fall in the right directions. I have a good feeling about this.

Hopefully it will all work out. If not, well it just wasn't meant to be,

but I'm keeping my fingers crossed. Please keep Zach in your prayers that

he may stay healthy enough to attend.
