Guest guest
Hi Rose, I would try and borrow a scale from someone rather than attempting to make soap without one. It is just too hard to know the difference in the oils without being able to see how much 1 litre of say apricot oil weighs in relation to what 1 litre of olive oil weighs. Rather than going by the seat of your pants and only having a 50% chance of making decent soap...just borrow a cooking scale from someone. I don't know where you are located, but you can buy a low end scale (which is better than nothing) at walmart for around $12. Good luck and have fun. Sutton Winnipeg Manitoba 18oz lye can recipes needed Hi, I do not have a scale and would like to know of a recipe using the 18oz can of Red Devil Lye. Guest guest
Absolutely. I started out making soap with recipes geared to the 12 cans of Red Devil. Took a few inconsistant batches to realize that a '12 ounce can' was not always 12 ounces. Even if an ounce on a cheap scale is not exactly an ounce, if you measured everythign on the same scale, chances are it would work because the porportion would be the same. Kinda like the 'parts' thing with making lotions and such. Get a scale, it's a necessary investment. -Ilene > > I would try and borrow a scale from someone rather than attempting to > make soap without one. >
