Guest guest
i have been sick for 2monts and have only had them for 7 months, so i think my capsule would not be very formed yet right? i can not wait much longer, if I have to have them removed the capsules, then i will go another time. but i am having the implants out on monday and then I will see how i feel. not trying to be mean of anything but i cant wait until may that is when i could get in with a surgeon and not even in my state. so i know that some people have them removed and have them left in and get better, i have only read this. so i guess i will see how i feel after monday, only time will tell. thank you lizglory2glory1401 <glory2glory1401@...> wrote: Liz,It has been our recommendation, based on what some women have experienced, to make sure the capsules come out with the implants at the time of explantation. How long have you been sick? How long have you had the implants?I would hate to see you go through the explant surgery, only to have to go through another one at a later date because the scar capsules are holding up your healing. I do know of several women who went through this process. It isn't fun, nor is it cheap. My friend from California had to spend an extra $10,000 traveling and going through an additional surgery to get the capsule removed. Her story is particularly telling...she had silicone gel, got sick, got them out, got better, and then because she missed her breast implants, she opted to get the salines, got sick right away, got those out a year later, and after a whole year of not getting any better, found out that the posterior scar capsule had been left in. She went through that second explant surgery to remove the posterior capsule, and the last I heard, she was doing great. So, based on her experience and that of many other women who have remained ill because they did not remove the scar tissue, we always recommend that women make every effort to have the explant surgery done right the first time. And that means getting all of that capsule out (called a total capsulectomy). This gives the absolute best chance for complete healing. It is a case of rather being safe than sorry. Of course, each woman's situation is individual...not all women have been able to get to a good doctor, or have had the information they needed to make these important decisions at the time of implant removal, so I am sure there are women out there who have been explanted and had the capsules left in and have healed to some degree. But it is almost impossible to know for sure. That's why we say, better to be safe than sorry. These illnesses and symptoms are alarming enough to make us want to take every precaution. It is totally up to you...I do wish you the very best. My tip: if you feel at all ANY kind of hesitation about going through with this explant and not getting a total capsulectomy, put it off until you do have peace about it and get it done exactly as you want it done. Peace of mind is priceless, and in terms of our healing, vital.Patty> > can anyone help me with a question? Guest guest
Liz, I completely understand. . . You have to do what you can do and pray it's for the best. We'll be praying that your surgery will go well Monday, and you will have a speedy recovery. Hugs and prayers, Rogene
