Guest guest
Return-Path: dz@... Dear Friends, As most of you know, the FDA will be meeting on April 11-13 with their advisory panel to help decide if silicone gel breast implants should be approved for the first time. Currently, there are restrictions on silicone gel implants, and they are much less popular than they were before the restrictions were put in place more than 10 years ago. This week is the last chance for women to sign up to speak at the FDA meeting, which will be held near Washington, DC. AND, it is the last chance for us to find out who wants their story to be told but who are not able to come. That would include some of our friends who are too sick to come, as well as some who have passed away. Their stories are in our hearts and it is our hope to help tell those stories so that they too can be an effective voice in this process. Individuals speaking on behalf of a support group or organization will have 5 minutes to speak. Those speaking as individuals will have 3 minutes. IF there are any support groups that are not able to send someone, please let us know who you are. If you're interested in participating (even if you're not sure), please let me know. And, if you are planning to come, please let us know that too. We are collecting donations to help pay for travel for women who have had implants. Many women have asked for financial assistance and we want to make sure anyone who is well enough to travel can be there to speak in her own voice. If you or your support group can spare even $5 to help with this, that would be great. (Of course, more is welcome too!) Please don't give money if you can't afford it, but if you can, please send a check to " NRC for Women & Families " and write " travel support " in the memo line. ALL of the funds raised will be used for planes, trains, and other travel expenses for people talking about women's implant experiences. And, since our organization is a charity, all donations are tax deductible (if you deduct donations). Best wishes, Zuckerman, Ph.D. President National Research Center for Women & Families 1901 Pennsylvania Ave, NW, Suite 901 Washington, DC 20006 www.center4research.org
