Hi ,

I also do not have auto-immune illnesses in my family. When I first got my implants everything was fine. It wasn't until the terrible stress from my job started that I started to become ill. It was terrible what I went through at my old job. I came home every night and had to drink just to relax but I was always so anxious. This is when the joint pain began for me. It was about 3 1/2 years after getting the implants.

I have read that extreme stress causes your immune system to weaken. Since my implants weren't leaking and there wasn't any break down of the implants, I believe that my illness was due more or less to stress. If I hadn't had the implants, I wouldn't have gotten sick but because of the severe stress my body couldn't handle the extra load so to speak.

I have read somewhere that if you are under severe stress and you have a rupture of a silicone implant you will most definitely develop Chronic Fatigue along with Fibromyalgia.

Stress really plays a part on your overall health. Some of us just have no way of getting away from it though. I will never really know for sure whether or not I would have gotten sick if I had a happy go lucky life though. I sure hope that some day I can have a happy go lucky life! :) Don't we all!

Just something to think about.

P.S. How long did it take for you to recover after explant?

I agree some women may not get ill. However, I also believe because I had> implants for over 9 years, the longer you have them, even if not suseptable> to auto immnue illness genetically, the higher your chances of becoming> immune weakened you become.
