Guest guest
I haven’t seen her in a few years but the last time I saw her they looked like torpedoes. No bounce, no movement whatsoever. I know she had capsular contracture in the beginning but don’t know if it resolved. I fear for her a lot because if anything should go wrong, they don’t have the financial means to pay for any needed surgery or medical care. Kenda Kenda, WOW! Guest guest
Wow, that must be painful. I hope nothing happens because of them. 30 years is a long time. So strange how some people are affected by them and others aren't. I think that the majority is probably affected in some way. Just a guess. Most women won't even admit that they have them so it would be difficult to even know how many get sick. Guest guest
Dearest Kenda: I have written to Oprah, but has never replied. I'm not a fan of hers because she has pushed plastic surgery on her show. Once she referred to one woman's implants as her "Little Girls". I have refused to watch her show ever since. Have you seen the movie The Colour Purple? Oprah was wonderful in this movie; however, she looks nothing like the Oprah that we see now! The same goes for Dr. Phil. His wife looks as if she has big implants. These two people are extremely powerful and can influence so many young women. Perhaps you could get through to her if Dr. Melmed is willing to help. Plastic surgery is big business, and has now become more popular than ever before. Women want big butt implants now (see ); (she is beautiful, but not with those big butt implants) just think of what will happen when these devices break down. I'm not sure if these implants are solid silicone or if they are the gel. One of the major problems is that women who have had mastectomies after cancer, want breast implants...this is a very large community of our population. Then we have women who feel that they need them to make more money, for example dancers, sex trade workers and the list goes on. I had a dancer in our home back in the nineties and she was sick from her breast implants. She told me that she had to have implants to make money...this is so sad. I think that we should ask Brockivich(not sure how to spell her last name) if she would be willing to help us. She is not afraid of anyone and then this could lead to a movie. I have her e-mail on the other computer, if you want it. Kenda, please watch Breast Men because you will see in this movie how they portray women...it will make you angry. Take care love...Lea ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~`````````````````````````````````` Re: Re: Oprah>> Date: Fri, 01 Apr 2005 14:25:38 -0600>> >> Hi Rogene,>> >> This is exactly how Mentor and other implant companies get off the hook,>> they claim that the women were “sick”’ to begin with. Guest guest
Hi Lea, Yes, I am aware of what you mention, except that has butt implants! I think if we put together a convincing group of people for a show, someone will have to air it. If not Oprah, someone else will. Dr. Melmed has agreed to be on the show. I have no implants so the story isn’t mine to tell, it is all of yours. If you are all willing to help here, I think we have a chance to tell your side. I can’t do it alone. Guest guest
Kenda, My surgery is one week from this wednesday, but I think Feng puts implants in also, so it's really a conflict of interest. But, I don't know, I haven't met her yet, I am going to her based upon recommendations and that she is closer to me than Texas. Don't want to do the 5hr flight to Texas. Guest guest
Hi Kenda, Since I already wrote to her I won't be giving you my story. It is going to be tough for you because you are only limited to 2000 words or are you actually going to write and not e-mail? I just feel if she is continually getting messages from people that are having difficulties or have had difficulties then it will soon catch her attention. If you have got Dr. Melmed to speak up that would be GREAT! Beth S.Kenda Skaggs <kdskaggs@...> wrote: What I would suggest doing is proposing an entire show to her instead of everyone writing individually. If everyone can give me info, I would be willing to compile it and write the show.Kenda Yes, maybe if everyone in this group would write to her telling oftheir horrible experiences with implants. I wrote to her but haven't heard anything. It is tough to really get your point across because you are limited to 2000 words which really isn't enough. I think it was enough to let her know that it was a terrible experience for me. Please, everyone that sees this message write to her. The squeaky wheel always gets the oil! Guest guest
I am planning on Fed-Exing her an envelope with stories, I think that will catch her attention. I hope you reconsider sharing your story with me so I can include it. Kenda Hi Kenda, Since I already wrote to her I won't be giving you my story. Beth S. Kenda Skaggs <kdskaggs@...> wrote: What I would suggest doing is proposing an entire show to her instead of everyone writing individually. If everyone can give me info, I would be willing to compile it and write the show. Kenda Yes, maybe if everyone in this group would write to her telling of their horrible experiences with implants. I wrote to her but haven't heard anything. It is tough to really get your point across because you are limited to 2000 words which really isn't enough. I think it was enough to let her know that it was a terrible experience for me. Please, everyone that sees this message write to her. The squeaky wheel always gets the oil! Guest guest
Kenda, You're amazing! . . . What kind of time schedule are you looking at to gather the stories? Hugs, Rogene
Guest guest
Rogene, I had no time schedule, just whenever you all got everything together. I have decided to back off and let you decide what is best and follow through as you see fit. I appreciate Dawn’s position, I really do. It is so frustrating feeling like you have been wronged and no one cares but the only way to get the word out is to keep trying. The reason for selecting Oprah as a possible host has nothing to do with whether I like or her agree with her, she has a huge audience of women, the group we’d like to reach. It’s not my war to fight and I certainly don’t want to fight the group to get it done. Kenda Kenda, You're amazing! . . . What kind of time schedule are you looking at to gather the stories? Guest guest
Kenda, I understand where Dawn is coming from . . . but that's not to let it stop you. That's how she feels, and, as far as I'm concerned, she's entitled to feeling that way. When you're carrying toxic bags around with you day and night, you have reason to get pretty upset! This group has been wonderful about accepting each other. Let's not stop now! I think your idea is wonderful . . . It never hurts to try . . . and if any approach will work, it will be the kind you're taking. After all being told " No " isn't the end of everything .. . . but if she says " Yes! " it could be the beginning! Thanks so much Kenda, let's keep the ball rolling! Hugs, Rogene
Guest guest
Hi Rogene, Of course Dawn is entitled to her feelings and I completely empathize with her -- and all of you. I don’t want to do anything that will harm any of you or potentially make a mockery of your situations. I hope Oprah or another talk show host wouldn’t do that but I can’t guarantee it. If you want to go ahead, let’s do but please don’t be upset with me if it doesn’t go exactly as we hope it will. Guest guest
Kenda Thanks for all your offers of help. No one would be upset with you if things don't go the way we hope. Why would we? We can't predict how things will turn out, but it sure would be great to give it a try, wouldn't it? NOthing ventured, nothing gained. Guest guest
Rogene, I think everyone’ story matters, there is strength in numbers. Kenda Kenda, Whether or not it works, I admire you for trying . . . I need to write up my story. I thought I had it somewhere on the computer, but I don't see it. I'm not sure that my story matters since I'm older than most and implants have changed several times since I got mine in 1978. But, I would like to bring up the issue of the kids! Also, I think that, regardless of whether or not you've written Oprah, everyone should write again. There's no way she sees all the mail that comes to her. And, putting the stories together as a complete show, would be a different angle. Especially with Dr. Melmed. Did you know he's going to speak before the FDA again in April?
