Guest guest
Bleach will kill the virus in a heart beat. Even with colored clothes, I have put in a very small amount of bleach when I have had a blood spill. Hydrogen peroxide on the stain to lift it from the material and then say a ounce to half ounce of bleach to the water in the washer. love JanetDebbie wrote: Hi allKinda off topic but I cut myself this weekend and with the bleeding was wondering if laundering kills the virus or if I should worry or just burn the clothes and towels. Guest guest
Thanks everyone for your input. I will have clean virus free clothes. Need to keep what clothes I do have with the weight loss don't have many that fit. I was mostly worried bout the bath towels and my family. Still waiting on my daughter's test results. We know she doesn't have hep b. So had to draw more blood for the right test. Makes me wonder if my dr. knows what I have Thanks and enjoy this day DEbbie > Hi all > Kinda off topic but I cut myself this weekend and with the bleeding was > wondering if laundering kills the virus or if I should worry or just > burn the clothes and towels. Guest guest
Was watching Montel the other day, and they recommend just for sanitary sake to wipe down your washer tub. They said fecal matter can be transferred to all of your towels and clothing. Now that is gross. They say that small amounts are on all of our underwear. Yuck. Well I do that anyway, but I had a mother with OCD about cleaniness and it was past on to me. So I learned at a early age to wipe down the tub of the washer and dryer every time I use it. Thank God for Bleach wipes!! I would be lost without them. But it makes sense, and thought to myself that is a good idea to pass on to others. I use the bleach wipes in the kitchen also to wipe down my appliances and counter tops, stove top. Love JanetDebbie wrote: Thanks everyone for your input. I will have clean virus free clothes. Guest guest
I have such skin that I have splits at the corners of most of my fingers all the time. I work with lots of weel in my knitting and that sucks the moisture out. Just cleaning the shower is a chore for me. SHort of wearing gloves all the time, I don't know what to do to protect the household. Any suggestions on that issue? I cannot use bleach or ammonia any more for the effect of the fumes. Guest guest
Thanks, I run around with bandaides on my fingers most of the time and use neosporine to soften it. I also use gallons of hand lotion with extra glycerin and I use shea butter daily, but the corners of the fingers just will split. Any good usable suggestions would be very welcome. Guest guest
Therein lies a problem though of staining. Perhaps rinsing out the blood from the clothes first so as not to have a permanent blood stain on the clothing. Remember hot water + blood = permanent stain. Guest guest
True and I'd forgotten that,, but hydrogen peroxide will bubble all the blood out prior to washing... I believed she was more concerned with it being a risk factor to contaminate others more than for salvaging the garment.. anne wrote: Therein lies a problem though of staining. Guest guest
I haven't tried that in a long time. THe latex of the gloves irritated my hands the last time. Guest guest
Ok, well I'll send you the url to the knit and chat privately just because Im sure that many are not interested in it.. What you might do is to find someone locally who can teach you the basics of knitting and then find a good craft store or knitting shop close by who can help you if you get stuck. I've gone to our local craft shop to have this one lady show me how to do the heels in socks, I've become a sock knitter, lol,, and just having someone 'show' you the steps while helping you read the pattern can really help a lot!Debbie wrote: Hi Jackie No I don't know how to knit but am inspired by this group to start a hobby to keep my mind quiet and hands busy. Guest guest
lol,, well its been quite the day,, my three dogs ate ALL my one dogs meds and so they are in the hospital,, to the tune of 3500.00 !!!! all three got their stomachs washed out,, IV, plus charcoal and other meds,, and on top of that we have to drive back later to pick them up,, in the middle of the night,, what a day! the worst part is that we 'think' we know which dog ate it all, but have no way to know for sure because we didnt see them do it,, and it had a safety lock on it to boot but they still chewed it off,, grrrrrrrrSHARON CROSBY wrote: I don't think I knew they were available, at least I don't remember knowing that. lol Sharon in NW Washington Knitting is...time and love made tangible. Guest guest
haha,, I think they are worse than kids,, you can point to meds even when kids are only 18 months and tell them that they must never touch this as its might hurt them etc,, and they wont touch it.. We got them home at about 4 am.. I can tell that the dog for whom the rx was written for did not get his anti-inflammatory,, he was very stiff today so we had to go and buy more of that too, on top of everything else... Since we took them home early and WE are administering all the rest of the meds to protect their kidneys and GI tract, they reduced the bill to 1500.00 which is certainly better than what we first were billed... but I can tell you that if given the chance to eat them again, I know that the one dog who did it would most definately do it again! lol..... Im tired but I'll survive..SHARON CROSBY wrote: Oh boy, just like kids. Only with stronger jaws. Hope all are better now. I really think that vets charge more than pediatricians!! Guest guest
I believe that if I ever got another dog as a puppy, I would purchase doggie medical insurance,, sometimes I think it might have been cheaper if we'd had that.. I love my oldest dog Cody for whom the meds were given for,, the other two, well I tolerate them,, lol,, the golden/chow mix that we got from our neighbor because she had to move and couldnt take him with her, well I could do without him,, he is a maniac in the car,, as well as in the house, if he even sees a flash from a car going up the street, he rips through the doggy door and races all over the yard.. he is much too much for me.. but my hubby likes him a lot,, so I tolerate him.. The middle dog was the one who never left my side the entire year I was on my HCV treatment so I guess I have to give him THAT.. he is very loving but also is a high energy dog and really should be on a cattle ranch herding cows instead of me down the hall,, lol,, Im glad your little dog is ok,, Im surprised that the neighbor's didnt pay that vet bill since it was their dog that harmed yours.. thats a huge bill too... Two months ago, we had to have Cody, the oldest neutered because he developed a testicular tumor and that was also 650.00 so I feel really 'tapped out' on vet bills... Wish I'd gone to school to be a vet,, lol,,,SHARON CROSBY wrote: Still an outrageous bill, but better than the first one. How awful! It cost us 800 to get our Baby girl sewed up when the neighbors rottie got hold of her and threw her from his jaws. She was pretty chewed and she's only 5 lbs, smaller thatn the other dog's head. She's fine now tho and we love her enough to do whatever it takes. Sharon in NW Washington Knitting is...time and love made tangible.
