Guest guest
Hi Beth, I assume you saw at the clinic? She's such a sweet-heart! When we got there this morning, she knew Hanna right away. We also had to start with a months worth of physio. We saw again after that, and Dr. Hamilton today (another month later!). I'm expecting a phone call from the orthotics dept. at the hospital this afternoon to set an appt. for casting. Dr. Hamilton asked us if we had heard of the DOC BAND. We told him "of course! We want to get started NOW!!" He seemed shocked that we had already made a decision. WHAT DOES HE THINK WE'VE BEEN THINKING ABOUT FOR THE LAST 2.5 MONTHS!!!! Well, good luck with your physio. Keep smilin', and we'll talk to ya later! Kendra hewie1@... wrote: We joined up approx 4 weeks ago when our daughter started physio for torticollis. Guest guest
Beth, I agree with Kendra's recommendation to schedule an appointment early!! We have an appointment tomorrow at the craniofacial clinic that we scheduled almost a month ago (I thought it might even take longer). In the meantime, Cameron's head has definitely improved to the point where our pediatrician doesn't think we need to do anything (of course), but I'm keeping the appointment anyway.... I want a second opinion. We have been aggressively repositioning for over 2 months and have seen results, mostly in the last month when I think he had a growth spurt. But Cameron does not have torticollis and his case is mild (was moderate), so we are very lucky. Good luck! -Pam ----- Original Message ----- From: & Kendra Plagiocephalyegroups Sent: Wednesday, April 05, 2000 2:32 PM Subject: Re: hi Kendra in Calgary Beth, Yes, we are definitely breathing our big sigh of relief that things are finally a go. You can always cancel if you no longer think it's necessary to go, right?? Just to let you know, Hanna's head did not improve after 2 months of aggressive positioning, plus physio. Guest guest
Hi Kendra, we have been referred by our pediatrician to the clinic. Do I wait for their phone call or should I be contacting them directly myself. The therapist said it would take at least 1.5 to 2 months before we heard. Then do we wait another 2 months for the actual appointment? I am very lucky my daughter is mild, it must be VERY difficult for parents whose children are more severe to wait it out - I feel for you. Guest guest
Hi Beth, From our perspective, I waited a few days and when I didn't hear from Dr. Hamilton's office I contacted them just to follow up. I wasn't patient enough to wait and wait for their call. Here is the phone number for Birkett just in case you don't have it. 229-7283. Also, I found when we were trying to book our appointment that they don't book them based on first come first serve they also look at the ages of the babies that they need to see. I personally would follow up on it just to be sure because you don't want to be delayed any longer than need be. ----- Original Message ----- From: Dave Heughan Plagiocephalyegroups Sent: Wednesday, April 05, 2000 2:40 PM Subject: Re: hi Kendra in Calgary Hi Kendra, we have been referred by our pediatrician to the clinic. Guest guest
Beth, When our doctor called for our referral, I was in the room. I could hear the nurse laughing at the other end, because Hanna was so young at the time. Apparently they don't see such young bunnies ( Ann is 3 mos, yes??). Lucky for me, our doctor (Dr. Pion Kao) called again, and faxed, telling them Hanna's head was the worst he's EVER SEEN!! Granted, her head IS bad, but I think Dr. Kao is about 14 years old (well he looks it!!) and it must be the ONLY case he's ever seen. I don't expect him to admit that to me, tho. Anyway, the clinic called me the next Monday. Yes, they call you, but I'll give you 's e-mail address, and maybe she can clarify for you. stephanie.birkett@... She's so nice, I'm sure she wouldn't mind a little 'ol e-mail!! Kendra Dave Heughan wrote: Hi Kendra, we have been referred by our pediatrician to the clinic.
