Guest guest
I have purchased a hand-held massager. While it is not as good as a masseuse, I am able to get some relief from major "ouch" spots with it. I like to take Epsom salt baths and have a far infrared portable sauna coming today...all suggestions I have picked up from all of you! In what order would you recommend that I do the rubbing, bathing, sauna. Suggestions are not only welcomed but extremely appreciated. Thanks for all your help so far. You have already gotten me through explant, recovery. Thanks for helping me find a new "normal". Jeanne
Guest guest
Jeanne, You can massage anytime! . . . The only precaution is not to massage anywhere one suspects a deposit of silicone (for gel implanted women), and not to press the massager on bone. Use some massage oil (coconut oil is great), to reduce drag on the skin. Go deep slowly and gently to avoid brusing. If you get much brusing, it's an indication you aren't doing it right. Occasional bruises are to be expected. It would help if someone else could work the massager on you so you can relax while getting a massage. Work from the feet up, from the hands up. Check a book on muscles. Work in the direction that muscles run. If you feel an exceptionally sore spot. Use pressure with your thumb or knuckle to just press on the spot until the tissues soften and the pain is released. When you first start, you may not be able to stand much pressure. But as you go, you will be able to work deeper into the muscles. There are some excellent books on massage to show you some techniques. I worked with a man who did incredible work (self taught) on his wife. Her doctor predicted she wouldn't get out of her wheelchair. But she did!
