Guest guest
Hi Everybody, I have a couple of questions and thought you all may know the answer to them. I am going in for explant in over 1 week. These are my questions.. As I understand it, an antibiotic is given at time of explant, intravenously? If so, I am completely sure that will worsen my candida problem, no? Does everyone take the antibiotics they are given, just to be on the safe side, to ward off an infection? Also, the steroid will probably destroy me too. The other thing is that, when I had initial BA I had to have a blood test done. No one has mentioned getting this done.. Should I ask the docs office (Feng)? Thanks, Dawn

Guest guest
Dawn, You need to ask your doctor if he/she uses antibiotics before or after surgery. I don't think many doctors do unless they suspect there's inflammation . . . but I could be wrong. Guest guest
Dawn I went to dr.feng and she had blood tests done in her office if I remember correctly. It has been three years so I don't remember if they did them at my consult or the day of the surgery. But yes, you should have some tests. Call and ask them and they should tell you their protocol. As far as the antibiotics are concerned, they are necessary and dont worry about them. They may make your candida a little worse, but that is probably less of a problem than if you should get an infection from the surgery. I had candida and didn't notice it worsening. Candida is a long battle that you will never win, but you can get under control so this is just a little glitch in the battle and necessary. Why are you getting the steroid? I dont think I got any, but maybe I did. It didn't affect me either. So please don't worry about it. Getting the implants out, and getting them out safely is all that you should be concerned with at this point. After that, you can be more aggressive in treating candida and detoxing etc. Relax, this will go fine. I am so excited that you only have one week left! The wait is almost over! If you more questions, please don't hesitate to ask. You are in good hands with Dr.Feng! love kathy > > Hi Everybody, > > I have a couple of questions and thought you all may know the answer > to them. Guest guest
The only prescription I got at explant was for pain pills, which I never used. I did not get an Rx for any antibiotic. However, I would be surprised if an anti-bacterial agent was not used during the surgery itself. Maybe a local antibiotic? In any case, it is probably a good idea to use a probiotic after surgery, just to keep all the good guys well populated! I have no clue about the steriods! Didn't know they used those at surgery, but makes sense to keep inflammation down. I would definitely ask your doctor about what her procedures will include, so you can be well informed. Take care and best wishes on your upcoming explant Dawn! Hugs, Patty > > > > Hi Everybody, > > > > I have a couple of questions and thought you all may > > know the answer > > to them. Guest guest
Ohhhh, Thanks so much Kathy for replying to me... I was started to feel alittle lost in the shuffle here:) I thought it was common practice to give the steroid to reduce inflammation... I had it with BA and thought I saw it mentioned with explant. I am going to call Dr. Feng on Monday, because what I am afraid of is that I will fly there and not be able to do the surgery because I don't have the labs! I don't know how she would get lab results so quick, but .. I will just call. You're right, the antibiotics are a temporary glitch. I am going to ask Dr. Feng if she could prescribe me some temporary diflucan. Gotta have the big guns out ( no pun intended) to fight the candida. Thanks again... hugs, Dawn In , " mikat828 " <mikat828@y...> wrote: > > > Dawn > I went to dr.feng and she had blood tests done in her office if I > remember correctly.
