Guest guest
Moderator's note: Content of previous message edited. Hi Stark, thanks for your answer. I did take the x-ray, yesterday. I needed to see how things were progressing. I will not be taking anymore, though. Can you tell me more about your pain, you mention? Is it also in the neck? The x-ray was informative, as I could see the osteoarthritis...and understand it... Also my neck is straight instead of tilted back like most people. Hope to hear from you more about your pain...and where it is located. I am looking forward to doing Yoga in the New Year... ~dagmar -- In chronic_pain , " crazy_horse_gt <crazy- horse@o...> " wrote: > Hi Dagmar, > > I have a little arthritis in my neck myself ... From what I know about x-rays, it isn't good to have too many. There's always a risk.
Guest guest
Hi Dagmar, I understand about having the x-ray to see progression. I too have a straight neck and the chiro was working on giving it a curve. My pain is progressing to all over my neck. The bit of arthritis is on the right side in the middle. My pain is more on the left, especially upper and lower, but now it is moving along to everywhere. Especially the top on the right is giving out. My new doctor still hasn't gotten all the test results from my other doctors, so he's going by what I tell him (though none of the tests I've had have shown much of a problem.) He thinks it is chronic myofascial pain, which is somewhat similar to fibromyalgia, only more localized. All the pain is in my neck, except when it is really bad (like lately), then it seems to spread to my shoulder and upper back. I know part of that has to do with when my neck hurts I can't do as much and not using my left arm enough makes my shoulder hurt (I'm glad I drive a manual!) I had an accident in the early nineties that injured my shoulder, and it was while in physical therapy for that that I began to have neck problems. I've also had nerves cauterized, but that did not help much and they grew back within a few months. I think the surgeries have contributed to my neck worsening. I can't think of anything else that would have done it, except for the undertreatment of my pain by a horrible pain management doctor I was seeing from spring through summer. I originally saw a chiropractor who specializes in neck manipulation when this began to get real bad (over two years ago) and I had assumed he would 'fix me all up' and I wouldn't need to be bothered with the neurosurgeon or doing anything else about my neck. Unfortunately, just the opposite came about. The chiro caused the pain to worsen and it become constant along with really limiting my range of motion. I had to quit working right after beginning seeing him and have not been able to return. I am in the process of applying for SSDI now. (What a pain! That just adds insult to injury.) As far as 'un-straightening' my neck goes, the chiropractor did indeed do that to some small degree. But it took four months of excruciating pain to do so, and now the pain will not go away. He insisted he can straighten it out - well, that's nice LOL! I don't think I can take anymore of his treatment though! If it weren't for the doctors giving me medication I would not have been able to stand seeing him for the four months that I did. I could hardly move afterwards. My poor old doggie had to trundle over to me so I could pet him and even then it was so hard to lean over at all. One thing I found very interesting when I first went to physical therapy is after telling them about the chiro and how I have a straight neck, the therapist replied " Yes, I noticed that right away when you walked in. " I also have a 'swan neck'. (I knew I had a _long_ neck, but I'm happier to hear it called a swan neck instead LOL!) Hope this has helped give some insight, and that everyone has a real good day today! Stark p.s. I'd like to apologize to everyone for forgetting to edit my earlier post and not putting in double spaces at the end of my sentences (I know some people have a hard time reading and that doing so helps.) I'll just have to post more often so I don't forget Can you tell me more about your pain, you mention? > Is it also in the neck? > The x-ray was informative, as I could see the osteoarthritis...and > understand it...
