Guest guest
Asking for offlist responses is against our rules. It is however all right to make off-topic posts on neutral subjects, including other health concerns. Posts about doctors are considered very much on topic. I would add that the database is a place where folks can anonymously evaluate docs they have seen. Not even the moderators can find out who posted what. Finding a good thyroid/adrenal doc who takes insurance is a tall order. Owens may be able to help you, but she will not Rx hydrocortisone longterm. is in network for some insurance, and he is the expert on hormones. >> I'm so grateful for the support and advice I've received so far. Guest guest
Has anyone checked your husband’s adrenal function? I’m one that travels to Lubbock. Actually my family of 4 all go out there. Both of my daughters are hypothyroid. I have low adrenal and low thyroid function. I recently got my husband to go in January. He has multiple hormone imbalances including thyroid. We were all also deficient in B vitamins and ferritin. It has been worth every penny and minute that we have invested to go out there. Dr is very good about getting to the root cause of the problem rather then treating symptoms. Guest guest
I don’t think anyone has checked his adrenals, nor his thyroid for that matter. And the funny thing is he tells me that he was on thyroid when he was younger (a kid, I think), but only for a short time. He is 63 and said they didn’t do blood tests for thyroid then. I can’t remember how he said they did the diagnosis. He also struggles with weight and crazy sugar cravings, so it just seems an obvious test. Traveling to Lubbock is feeling right to me for some reason. I even mentioned it to my husband today and he said, well, that could easily be a day trip. Thanks! Guest guest
Thanks for the clarification, Jan. I only asked for offlist as to not clutter up the list if it was off topic (as is preferred on some other lists I’ve been on). Glad it’s not a problem to ask. I will check more into the database of the group. I haven’t seen that – only the top thyroid docs website. I assume you are referring to a list on the yahoo home page. I guess I am open to going outside insurance, but want a good doc and not too alternative (I’ve done the alternative run around and been disappointed, so I’m a bit guarded there). I am still a fan of acupuncture, etc., just leery of a certain type of alternative doc (difficult to explain). Back to going out of network or insurance…I was curious about Dr. Marina , but noticed her fees are *very* high. I’d want to be sure that was my best option before plopping down nearly $4000. Guest guest
Besides the Database, there is our Texas Armour Docs list maintained by the moderator in "Files." If you see a doc on Shomon's Top Doc list and do not see that doc on our list, there is usually a good reason for that. Someone mentioned Mabray. I removed him from our list because he will not Rx over 120 mg of Armour. Ditto for Ozan. >> Thanks for the clarification, Jan. Guest guest
That is the highest dose I have heard of him prescribing. And it still would leave many folks undermedicated. > >> > Thanks for the clarification, Jan. Guest guest
yes, i know...i am still not sure i am at my optimal level..although lately i have been feeling nervous. I had to cut down...not sue though if i need to cut down on the armour or the t4...i am trying to decide who to go to....i may just go back to manzanero in light of all his talk about neurotoxins. I did have what I would call CFS...then I had all the mercury in my mouth removed...shortly thereafter I started having the bouts of thyroiditis. The CFS got better, though - at least I could get out of bed and stopped having diarrhea. Although I am soooo much better than 4 years ago, symptoms continue. I guess that's why manzanero recommended chelation....I have become open to it... steph Re: Adrenals & questions about Muscle Twitching That is the highest dose I have heard of him prescribing.
