Guest guest
Thank you Dawn . . . Some of the children have been DX'd with systemic Candida/Yeast. It can cause a huge problem! ------------------------------- The following is from an unbelievably GREAT book I read for my candida problems. I highly recommend this book. It is full of information about detoxing, specific conditions, etc. The condition I am addressing is hair loss. This is from the book, " Complete CANDIDA YEAST Guidebook, revised 2nd edition, Everything you need to know about prevention, treatment and diet " By Jeanne Marie and Zoltan P. Rona, M.D. Seborrhea, Folliculitis and Scalp Problems Scalp problems such as seborrhea and folliculitis are most often external expressions of internal imbalances and toxemia. Mild cases of seborrhea, folliculitis and dandruff have been found to respond well to antifungal or selenium-containing shampoos. Using prescription antifungals for six weeks or more can also resolve the problem in mild to moderate cases. In severe cases, the whole body has to be addressed to achieve healing. This can best be accomplished by taking a natural approach. Stress, emotional factors, nutritional deficiencies, food allergies, and digestive function abnormalities like low stomach acid, low pancreatic enzyme levels, or a severe intestinal flora imbalance may all be related to scalp inflammation and hair loss. Bacterial, fungal or parasitic infections in the bowel create toxic overloads. Some toxins produced by these microbes have androgenic or estrogenic hormonal effects. Some cause the immune system to overreact to foods or the environment; some cause skin rashes: eczema, seborrhea, and psoriasis. If the body cannot eliminate toxins from these imbalances through the urine or feces, it tries to get rid of them through the skin. Along the way, skin diseases like acne, seborrhea, and folliculitis result. No identifiable fungi may be present in the hair or scalp, but this does not mean they are not in the colon or elsewhere in the body manufacturing toxins. Prescription antibiotics and steroids in pill or lotion form offer temporary relief but set the stage for a chronic fungal infection that just keeps getting worse. Eradication the problem usually requires a good bowel cleansing program, as well as a complete revision of the diet: elimination of food allergens, reimplantation of a friendly bacterial culture (lactobacillus acidophilus and bididus [sic]), and the use of several digestive enzymes and other nutritional supplements. A bowel cleansing program might involve ozone or hydrogen peroxide therapy, magnesium oxide, aloe vera juice, psyllium seed powder, pectin, bentonite, senna buckthorn, cascara sagrada, ground flaxseed, and a series of colonic irrigations. Juice fasting is helpful in most cases. The diet should be as natural as possible. You may have food allergies; until you know exactly which foods are harmful to you, avo8id foods high in sugar, fruit, and fruit juice; fermented foods such as beer, wine, cheese, and bread; stored grains; grain-fed animal products (red meats, especially beef and pork, animal fats, butter whole milk and other high fat dairy products); seeds and refined foods; leftovers; and tobacco products. Eat more fish and fish oils, garlic, onions, olives olive oil, green vegetables, herbs, spices, soy products like tofu, yogurt, phylum, pectin and milled (ground) flaxseed. An increased intake of fiber significantly reduces the impact of fungal and other microbe toxins. Nutrient supplements helpful for treatment and prevention include: Essential fatty acids, (evening primrose oil, flaxseed oil, black currant seed oil, oil of borage, and others); Vitamin A; B-complex vitamins, including biotin; vitamin C; bioflavonoids (pycnogenol, hesperidin, catechin, quercetin); vitamin E; zinc; silica; selenium; calendula; Echinacea; goldenseal; chaparral; cayenne; propolis; hypericum; lomatium; and aloe vera juice. Topically, the use of tea tree oil and calendula cream is beneficial. So is topical Vitamin E, silica gel, and aloe vera. Colloidal silver is a natural antimicrobial that can be taken internally and/or applied topically to skin lesions. If possible, see a natural health care practitioner for biochemical individuality testing (blood, urine, hair analysis, food allergy testing, comprehensive digestive and stool analysis, and so on). A personalized nutritional program can reverse scalp problems and restore general health. Dawn
