Guest guest
Will, You are absolutely right. Someone Does need to kill the toxic mold boogyman that scares the heck out of building stakeholders and promotes the false concept that anyone who says mold is harmful is lying and trying to get into their pockets. The following is a bonified intentional boogyman statement, that has been mass marketed and meant to instill fear and hatred. It is a cause of much of the contention over the issue by falsely inferring that anyone who recognizes mold can be a health threat is screaming that a little mold in a shower is going to kill everyone. “Thus the notion that ‘toxic mold’ is an insidious secret ‘killer’ as so many media reports and trial lawyers would claim is ‘Junk Science’ unsupported by actual scientific study.†(2003) US Chamber of Commerce Institute for Legal Reform, Manhattan Institute Center for Legal Policy. Mold became the boogeyman and was sensationalized by the media. I deal with a lot of prospective home owners and eventually the "toxic mold topic" arises, but few inquire about radon mitigation. Considering that approximately 20,000 people a year die from complications associated with radon exposure, I find it interesting that toxic mold takes precedence. The point is, you never see the media reporting about the radon boogeyman that invaded a house and killed its occupants. At the end of the day, there is far too much hype associated with mold in the media. The science and medical proof is there, someone simply needs to kill the black toxic fuzzy boogeyman once and for all, but I am not holding my breath that the "media" is ready for the truth any time soon.
