Guest guest
~~~ Thanks to Adella and to Lea for sending this out for us all ~~~ Sent: Wednesday, October 13, 2004 9:12 AM Subject: Dr. Edworthy MEDICAL INFORMATION: From the Breast Implant Line of Canada comes news of a study by Dr. Edworthy which shows that women with breast implants may have an increased risk of developing lipid (fat) abnormalities. A recently completed study by Dr. Edworthy and the Breast Implant Study Group at the University of Calgary, Canada found that in 39% of the blood samples from implanted women a layer of creamy, opaque material was floating on the top of the blood samples. Analysis of this material revealed that it contained high lipid levels (fat particles) in the form of chylomicrons. In some studies, chylomicrons have been found to be associated with atherosclerosis. Up to now chylomicrons have never been associated with breast implants, according to Dr. Edworthy. Look for this study in the May 27th issue of the British Journal, Lancet. No significant differences were found in women who had saline or silicone implants and no links were found between smoking and other factors. ~~~~~~~~~~~~ For more on the dangers of breast implants, please visit: www.BreastImplantAwareness.org
