Guest guest
I am so sorry this has happened to you. I know how you feel my one trip to a pain clinic was a waste of time and money I was told to do yoga with 2 kinds of arthritis and all the medical restrictions there is no way I can do yoga so I never went back. I put down that I had no doctor that way they could not send a report back to the doctor (not that the doctor is giving me much for pain unless you call 4 vicoden alot of pain meds) so I can sure understand your frustration. I sure wish these doctors could live a week in our bodys so they know how it feels to have pain every second of the day. I hope you can find another doctor who wants to treat your pain. Guest guest
Hi Vali, I'm new to the group. I've had fibro since 1974. You are right that exercise and losing weight won't help. How can you have a happy attitude if you are in constant pain. But, watching movies, doing something to take your mind off the pain really helps. Joanne It does help to excercise when you have Fibromyalgia. That is a fact, however it won't get rid of all your pain either. It helps with your balance and with a bit, just a bit of the pain. I know this because my wife has Fibro and Chronic Fatigue. We both took Tai Chi and it helped her a lot really. Tai Chi is very easy to do and its easy on the joints and muscles. You just have to know when to relax instead of pushing yourself. If you are having a bad day don't exercise, take that day to relax and then excercise the next day. We did this 3 times a week only. That doctor was very insensitive. You are going to have to find a new doctor because of his sending that report to your doctor. This is the second instance where I have heard of a doctor ruining someone's life because of their so called opinions. They could care less what happens to the person, just their sorry low down tactics. Guest guest
Let me step softly into this discussion. I've had fibro since 1977. Been through every kind of treatment and medication that's come down the pike since then. Exercise helps SOME people. It doesn't help all of them. I've done a month and 2 month, in patient, doctor supervised exercise and behavior modification program to try to come to grips with my fibro. Unfortunately there are not too many absolutes. Exercise didn't work for me, long term. In the short run it helped me lose weight but it drastically increased my pain. My doctors, someof the leading people in fibro research have concluded that exerecise doesn't work for me. I have settled on a regimen of doing as much as I can when I feel good and as little as possible when I feel bad. Good luck, Jami " " wrote: >Hi Vali, > >I'm new to the group. Guest guest
No need to step lightly. I did say it helped a " bit " and didn't get rid of all the pain either. I can see how it may help some but not others as well. Same with me. I have severe back problems and any exercise at all will hurt me rather than help. My wife's condition is such that she can do a little exercise like Tai Chi and it does help her. She does have days where she can't do anything but rest. I have another close friend with Fibro and she is the same way. She has her good days and bad. When she's feeling better she does what she can that day because the next day may be a bad one. Fibro from what I have experienced first hand is a debilitating disease that leaves a person unable to plan ahead for anything because they don't know how they will feel one day to the next. Not to mention the loss of memory. This is something I haven't seen discussed here. Do most of you out there with Fibro have a problem remembering? Seriously though, it does affect my memory a lot. I don't even say that I have short term memory. The thing that bugs me the most though is where you are talking right along and then you can't remember a word. You know, it's right there at the tip of your tongue, you can see it in your mind but you just can't seem to make it come out. OOOOO!!! that's so d--n frustrating!!!!
