I've learned my lesson, my diet is super strict now BUT I'm afraid the A.F. Nizoral isn't working on me anymore b/c I cheated. And the more I try to research the more I become terrified of not getting rid of this beast. I'm afraid to die..sincerely. I'm so weak sometimes,I have muscle spasms and occasional numbness all over, my hair is falling out, my skin has burning sensations.etc.. My doctor thinks I'm overreacting but I'm scared. I just need to know if it's not to late for me. The strict change has only been a month--I'm now on the MEVY diet I take lots of supplements including Probiotics and I'm on Nizoral. Am I on the right track?? >> Hi , I am sorry that you are having such a difficult time of it. I do hope to reassure you though, that at 26, your body still has a lot of tricks up it's sleeve! You may be feeling horrible and having horrible symptoms, but your body can turn things around with the right diagnosis and treatment. The first best thing that you can do for yourself is to try to maintain a positive attitude and confidence of a good outcome. Then come at this problem like a puzzle and keep working at it to solve it. It is not going to be a quick thing. I know how scary it gets, I have been there, lots of times. Believe me I am telling you from experience that the fear and stress will only slow down your progress and it is un-necessary. So it is important to keep the fear in it's place and not running the show. When you start feeling afraid...it is a good time to take stock of all the encouraging things going on in your body. What are your strengths...what are you still doing well? Is your heart rate normal? Is your temperature normal? Is your blood pressure normal? Is your blood work normal? Cholesterol? You need to do this to keep your perspective. This should reassure you that you are in no immediate danger. Remember, your body has an enormous potential to heal itself. I have always done a lot of research myself, and it is a double edge sword. If you read too much about how horrible the symptoms might turn out to be, or about people who have had the worst cases it can scare you. So I focus on making sure the diagnosis is right, then switch to ok, what can I do about it...and not look at what all the symptoms might mean. At that point, you need to listen to your body. If you are starting a new diet or supplement...be aware of how your body is reacting. Start a journal so you can compare progress, track your symptoms and use a checklist to keep track of how diligently you are following your own protocol. Be sure to always look for any positive results and note them. If you have started the diet and the first 2 weeks were horrible....well did it improve after that? Hopefully, you have a doctor you can trust. If not, try to find a new one. As far as the prescription anti-fungals go, there are lots of anti-fungals and some are more natural. If one isn't working, you can try others. Some of the more natural ones are easier on your liver so you might want to try that. If you are doing research, I hope you are keeping dated notes and writing down your conclusions. This might sound like it is a lot of work to do it this way, but you are the only one who can manage the responsibility for your own health and there are two good reasons to do it this way....one is that it will help you to keep your perspective and keep the fear in it's place, because you are doing something about it...and two, it is too important not to give it your best....solve it right the first time so you can get on with your life in a healthy way. As far as being on the right track with your treatment, I am less able to answer that than perhaps some here might. I am beginning myself to address yeast. I can say that from what I have been reading online and hearing from others, it requires a consistent effort and perseverance. If you are taking a lot of supplements, I hope you have started them one at a time and know that they are not contributing to the problem. That either a doctor has suggested them or you have researched them thoroughly and not just started taking them because you heard someone online say they were taking them. You say it has been a month since you started back on the diet and the anti-fungal. Did you get a die off? Did you feel awful at first? Have you started to notice any improvement yet? If so, then be patient and read the book. If not, then perhaps you should get these symptoms checked out further. Numbness all over, and burning sensations of the skin, if they are only occasional might be from the treatment, or it could be from the fright you are feeling, or a reaction to the supplements you are taking. So it is important to know what the symptoms are from. Have your MD rule out other things if he hasn't already? Blood work, hormone levels etc. So, you are on the right track because you know you have a condition that needs attention and are willing to attend to it. Are you knowing all you should know and doing all you should do? I think you could spend some more time reading and nailing down a few things. Try taking a natural approach and keep at it and post to the list when you are confused etc. One last thing, I found a book called Chronic Candida by Murray, ND and it seems to cover a lot without being confusing. Either that book or another should be a guide for you to see for yourself that you or your doctor are following a good protocol. I hope that helps. Hang in there :-) Jane
Guest guest
Nadine, Welcome. I have to say you are one of the lucky ones to have caught it so early. It is not lucky that you have Lyme but lucky that you know you have Lyme. Many people go through years of not knowing what is wrong and only worsen over time. It took 12 years for me to get diagnosed. a ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Do me a favor Doc ~ Tell me something good. Guest guest
Dear Nadine, Even the military prescribes 30 days of Doxy to someone bit by a tick even before testing the tick. Beg and plead with your doctor to extend the treatment for 2 more weeks. The little bit of symptoms you have had are nothing compared to the life altering misery of chronic lyme disease and every precaution should be taken to prevent that. To be on the extra safe side Jim Duke a famous ethnobotanist used mountain mint, garlic and echinacea in conjunction with the Doxy to help his immune system clear the borrelia. Stop by a book store and look at his book " The Green Pharmacy " The chapter on what he did with his Lyme Disease is only 3 pages long and you can read it without having to buy the book (petty larceny?). Anybody reading this with chronic lyme please do not try this. This treatment is strictly for primary lyme. > Hello everyone, > > I just wanted to introduce myself. Guest guest
Triple your dosage. Extend your treatment period to at least two months, possible three. Don't let the idiots let you take any less. They give higher doses of antibiotics to kids with acne, for Christ's sake. Better to be safe than sorry. > > This morning I called my doctor's office and the on call nurse called > me back. Guest guest
Wow, your story could be that of thousands of women who go through pretty much the same pattern. Congratulations on your choice to explant. You will find that within a short period of time, some relief, and within a year or so you may find that all your symptoms are gone. I recommend detoxing to hurry the process. Lynda At 07:53 AM 3/13/2005, you wrote: >Hi.. >I am new but have been reading your posts for over two weeks. Guest guest
Dawn, How wonderful that you found this site. I found this site in February, and have scheduled my explant for 3/30. I have had similar symptoms. I'm on thyroid meds, and when I tell the doctor that I'm cold all the time, I have to sleep every day, and I'm dizzy and confused at times, she tells me it's psychosomatic. So, I go to psychiatrists to try and deal with depression. They send me to psychologists because I obviously have issues I need to talk about. And on it goes...I test normal for thyroid function; the dr. will not increase the meds, and I guess she's right. It's not my thyroid. I am certain the implants are making me sick. I know some women do not have problems, but I have. Don't be so hard on yourself about your decision to implant. I also ignored any negative or critical information that I didn't want to hear. I just wanted instant Hollywood boobs. It's vanity, and it's also the influence of the media and society. It was my decision, but I'm still appalled at how little surgeons know about the possible complications of implants. I hope you will continue to share. I've been sharing regularly, and it's just such a wonderful thing that I finally was ready for the truth, and the truth just keeps coming at me, supporting my decision to explant. Guest guest
Wow, thanks so much for the replies. I really needed to know you all were REALLY out there, since sometimes I actually doubt myself and think maybe it really is all in my head. I will keep sharing for sure. I read a post from Patty that was way back in 2001 where she replied to someone who was asking what happend to all of the people who got explanted, did they get well? Her reply was that these women probably just wanted to get on with their lives and leave this nightmare behind ( not a quote, but something to that affect). That's me. I just want to do this, get them out, GET ON WITH my precious god given life. I just don't know why, out of the 5 other friends I have that got implants, I was the only one that got sick. I just don't get it. But, from reading all of your stories and the ones on the explant site.. Some people don't get sick right away. With some it could be 5 , 10 maybe 20 years. And understandably, these particular friends do not want to hear about what I am going through. One such friend was totally opposed to the explant and tried to convince me otherwise. There is no convincing me otherwise. The variable in the equation was not there prior to the sickness, therefore, logic tells me that it the variable (implants) that caused the illness. The wierdest symptoms occur in me.. I just can't believe it. For example, this is gross but, I have never ever in my life had smelly armpits. Sure, a little normal stinkiness without deodorant (pre implant). Now, MY GOSH, my arm pits STINK when I sweat. Like a man. I've resorted to the heavy duty smelly smelly man deodorant!!! I find this really STRANGE, I say to myself, Why in the heck do I stink like this!!!! Well, I kinda think it's funny.. hope you did too. Guest guest
Hi Dawn...Welcome! I am fairly new to this site as well. I joined about a month and a half ago. The women are so amazing and so full of experience and advice. Just listen to some of their stories and hang in there until your on the other side. I was explanted on the 3rd of this Month. What a relief it is to have the poison out of your body! The explant was the easiest thing in the world compared to putting them in. The surgery itself is no big deal. The recovery is hard because you feel so good that you want to go out and live life! So I have had to slow myself down as I still have stitches in. They will come out this Wednesday. I am looking forward to that. I hope you have an Amazing surgeon to walk you through this. It's so comforting to have someone hold your hand and tell you your doing the right thing for YOU. I to have friends that got them within the same year, (4) and I am the only one with symptoms. Actually, I only have one, my hair was falling out (dropping) in the shower. I am still losing so much hair and am afraid I might end up in a wig soon if it doesn't stop. It's only been a week and a half so I don't expect it to stop soon. I am so proud of you for sticking to your gut feeling and not listening to your friends. One of mine was supportive and of course the others didn't want to hear about it. Fine! Just know that at some point in there lives they are going to have to go through this, maybe more than once if they decide to keep them forever. Do you have a date set yet? What are your symptoms? Just know that until you get those out you have to continue to get support that your not crazy and you are doing the right thing. The implants are not for everyone! Guest guest
Hi Marie, I don't know if you will get the original post I just sent because I clicked the back button and it was erased I think. I too have severe hair loss which is a major contributing factor to my researching the implant connection. Congratulations on your explant! It's only been eleven days, I think you are going to heal and your hair will stop falling out. That's what I am hearing. My other symptoms are muscle stiffness, disabling fatigue, memory loss, vitiligo, mysterious unrelenting water retention, systemic candida, hair loss, wierd rashes, wierd smells, hyper allergic to foods/environment. And quite frankly I look like _ _ _ _! There are other symptoms, so many to list. Can't wait to be on the other side with you. Dawn > Hi Dawn...Welcome! I am fairly new to this site as well. Guest guest
Have you checked your thyroid hormones to see if that could be the reason for the hairloss? Thyroid is the most common cause of hairloss in women other than gentic predisposition. Guest guest
--Hi Annie, Actually, I could probably write a book on thyroid with all of the background on that issue!! Thanks for the suggestion.. but actually I am currently on astronomical amounts of thyroid hormone.. yes, too much contributes to my hair loss and too little contributes to the hair loss. Over the past 3 years my meds have been adjusted sideways, backwards and back again to no avail. The hair loss is always with me no matter how much thyroid meds I take.. also I don't take synthroid (t4) which can in some people cause hair loss. I am on a combo of t3 and t4 drugs. Armour and cytomel. And.. I hope that I can be OFF of these drugs and back to the way I was prior to implant... NO thyroid meds. And the fact of the matter is, I should never have even been put on thyroid meds because my tests were so so so normal, not even a tinge of a thyroid problem. ... but I pursued the thyroid route anyway because I believed that was why I was so sick and in addition to that you cannot rely on all of the unreliable tests to tell you if you have a thyroid problem anyway. What a waste of time, huh. Thanks for your input...... Dawn - In , Annie <annie200548@y...> wrote: > Have you checked your thyroid hormones to see if that > could be the reason for the hairloss? Guest guest
Dawn I am so glad you found our site!! You have pretty much all of my symptoms that have occurred! I also had a friend that got hers a year before me and wasn't sick when I was (I got sick after about 4 years but didn't realize it was implanted related get explanted until 7 years had passed). Now she is coming up on 10 and is having some issues..... hmmmm. scary but I hope your friends are making it ok. This could be after a month or 10 years down the road. It all depends on your body and how much it hates the implants to quote Dr. Vasey from my last visit w/ him. He said my early capsular contracture was a sign of infection - it set in almost immediately after implanting. I should have removed them then but I had no idea about these heath things and trusted my PS. What a mistake!! Now 4 operations later I am glad to be free and on my way to recovery - I just wish it was 5 years ago and I didn't affect my son. That is the worst part and a thing that I will never forgive myself for. welcome - you are on the right track!! love shari
Guest guest
I don't know that anyone is clear on this either . . . But contracture does appear to be related to the body's mounting a defense against a foreign object whether it be from infection or rejection. Some women get sick even without contraction though. I know that the breast that I had contracture on is the one that was discolored when removed, and that is the side that lost a considerable amount of breast tissue with the implant. The doctor did an amazing job of making them look almost the same size though! . . . I can tell only by feel that the breast that had contracture is lighter.
