Guest guest
My rash was nothing more than infected hair follicules call folliculitis, it is the most common infected skin condition. However, mine had become more severe and become systemic. It was spreading; as I itched it spread from legs upward. It can come from nearly anything you can imagine that can irritate your skin. I really think this started when I bought these thick black socks that were too tight for my shins, but put two pairs on as we were going hiking in that Jan. 22nd snow storm at my Dad's cabin and I didn't want my feet to get cold. Following that I continued to keep my feet in those socks because they were sooooo warm and I had that raynauld's (cold feet) and I get so cold easily. The scratching can spread a streptococus germ to the skin follicul and there you go it can spread. Women can pick it up from shaving too, or even at spas. There's hardly a prevention, except keeping skin clean and dry and not too tight of clothes. Its only mildly contagious, basically skin to skin contact. Of course its spread by itching, however, mine was systemic so even if I did not itch it was coming out. It can occur in diabetes more prevalently (and I do have the reactive hypoglycemia and cold feet) and in people with compromised immune systems. I don't know if that means us. I guess to some degree huh? Yippie, I can return to taking my vitamins!, but I will spread them apart. I may have developed an allergic reaction to the niacinamide, scrathed and the skin became infected. Its all a blur, bit I'm most delighted that the problem is solved. I will be on an oral antibiotic for one month (yeap get out the antifungals and primal defense and start immediately). And I'll be on a topical antibiotic and continue steriod cream for topical itch. She also gave me .25 Xanax to help me sleep at night. I already took one and definately has helped with itch. Baths have been helpful, probably as they are good soaks for the infected skin. My ANA titier is still 1:40, and they don't consider that diagnostic, since 5% of the population have that normally, I guess I'm the lucky one. And the C4 even though its 14 in a range of 16-40, isn't low enough. They said I've always been running low there. EVen though it is something that gets used up in Lupus I don't I'd get a Lupus diagnosis because my sed rate (which shows inflammation is really down. Its 6 on a normal scale of 0-20, so it can't get my lower. So even when you think you're getting worse, you're really getting better. No Lupus, and all is calm in my little abode. But I was eatting atrosously due to nerves, the xanax will help ease the nerves. It will take 1-2 wks. to get relief and 1 month to cure. My vitamins may have actually been helping me. Oh yes there is malaise and fever with it too when it gets systemic but I never get fevers but I was getting very tired.
