Guest guest
Hi Everyone, Well, today went from ok to really BAD!!!! It all started when I took and Mandy to the immunologist for their appointment. Since Mandy is not as complicated as I will start with her: Mandy has low IgG and IgA. Her DPT titers are alot lower than they should be and the immuno had blood drawn today to check and see what the pneumo vax did to her antibody counts and to also check her Ig levels again. She can start having milk again along with all the other foods we had to stop, and if she starts getting runny with any of them we have to stay away from them. So basically what is going on is, is that her IgG level is low but not that low, and her IgA is really low, but she is doing ok with it now and her allergies are what are giving her the most problems. on the other hand has as most of you know, been diagnosed with hypogammaglobulinemia (very low IgG and IgA) along with several other things. Well here is where the day went BAD!!! Apparently one of his past blood test (I don't know which one) showed that he had neutropenia. Today they did a blood dif. and his segs were at 9 (normal is 20-55). The past blood test was at 5. The immuno said it would be normal for it to be a little low if he was sick, but not when he is healthy which he is right now. Well, I went back and looked into his records I have from last year and when he was born it went from low to high to normal to low to normal to hight, etc... . BUT last year when he was admitted (I have 2 different addmission records) his segs were low then as well. The immunio took him off of his Septra (which they don't think it is what is causing it, but wanted to make sure--but I can say it is not for when we moved the stuff turned to cement and it took me 4 weeks to get my hands on some more and he has only taken it 4 times since then). Anyway, I have the Merck Manual and I read up on it, but I read sooo much info that I am confused. So could someone PLEASE email any information that you think would be useful, such as what kind of doctor should I have him seen by and what kinds of test should be run, and any known causes of this? And if it is related to his other immune deficiency? I am soooo worried and I just don't know where to start with all of this. Why is it every time I start to get a handle on one thing something else has to pop up? ARRRGGGGG!!!! Well thanks to all of you in advanced!!
