He says that Armour 2,3,4, and 5 grain tablets now are backordered until SEPTEMBER as the " quality enhancing " process is taking longer than expected. The only doses available until then are: 1/4, 1/2, 1 and 1 1/2 grain tablets. I take 5 grains and rather than muck around with having to combine doses for the next four months I'm considering switching. I do not want to take the generic Qualitest, which is what Walgreen's offers as an alternative. Has anyone been successful switching directly (the same amount) to Naturethroid or Westroid? I'm wondering why those are so available, yet the larger doses are being "quality enhanced". From what I understand, the lower doses may be "quality enhanced" later on. The customer services rep started to get onto me asking so many questions so I didn't pursue that line. Don't know if anyone else feels this way, noone has said, and I take two doses of it in quarter grain doses, but for those who must have higher dosing, this just doesn't seem kosher to me. I hope I'm wrong about this but the reason for them not QE'ing the smaller doses could be money-motivated. Again, I hope I'm wrong. I'm disappointed but not surprised to learn that what I've suspected for the last couple of weeks about Armour is true -- that the higher-grain tablets are backordered. Fortunately I only take 2 grains per day and can easily substitute 2 1-grain tablets for 1 2-grain tablet (my pill splitter will get less wear-and-tear this way too). I hope Forest doesn't decide to "quality enhance" the 1-grain tablet anytime soon. I can just hear my doctor now: "You might as well switch to synthetic thyroid, because soon they'll stop making Armour." *rolling eyes* If/when that happens, I think a radical doctorectomy might be in order.
