Guest guest
Hi , I had so many symptoms. Just to name a few....chronic fatigue, fibromyalgia, numbness in legs from knees down. I actually fell twice because they went totally numb. I had tingling in my hands, chronic epstein barr, estreme weakness in legs, my organs hurt (couldn't wear anything tight around my waist so I've been in sweat pants for 3 years!), enlarged spleen and liver, sore throats, ear ache, the sore throat and ear ache was only on the left side along with rib pain only on the left side, intolerance to heat, extreme weight gain to the point that people no longer even recognized me. I had my implants for 9 1/2 years. Long time so I'm not sure why they didn't get hard. My doctor also told me that if my scar tissue was like cellophane he wouldn't be able to scrape too much because of excessive bleeding and the scraping would cause additional scar tissue and cause my breast area to feel hard. Not sure if this is true or not. However, he did find enough scar tissue that he was able to get it all out except that up against my ribs which I knew before going in. My doctors have not done anything for me except run millions of tests that all came up negative. They all said the same thing....No way can my implants be making me sick. So they just ran test and prescribed medication. Not until I joined this group was when I realized that it definetely was my implants that had been causing all of the problems. At that point I had been in bed for 3 years. When I joined this group and read all of the symptoms that everybody else was having I knew right away that it was surely the implants. I cried for a long time thinking that if I had know this 4 years earlier, I would have had them removed and probably still be working! My surgery was November 29th 2004. The tingling in my hands stopped immediately. I still have a few other symptoms. Some have gone aways completely. The only thing that has not improved is the fatigue but then again maybe it has as I used to go to bed after lunch and get up at 5 or 5:30pm. Now I can force myself to stay awake until 2pm and I wake up at 4pm. So I guess there has been some improvement in that also. Hope that answers all your questions. If you have any others just let me know. I wish you luck with your recovery. Guest guest
Beth your symptoms are really similiar to what I had except the tingling and numbness I don't have anymore. I still have fibromyalgia I have discovered after over doing things a bit this week the pain is there. However I think I need to keep moving. Everything I found out about Fibro points to that direction, whatever I can do to move about I am going to try. I also never had organ pain, that sounds so bad I am sorry for you Beth. My surgery was very long, and my Dr. is very thorough. I don't know why he is not on the list but I have offered to refer anyone that is interested to him. He is kind, understanding and does beautiful work. He does see and admits he sees implant illness in women with my kind of implants. I am not so sure he sees it in saline as often but he did say that he removes them all with the capsule. He says it takes time and that it is meticulous work and some Dr's just don't want to take that time. Best wishes to you Beth. I too want to return to work someday. Annie --- " Beth S. Guest guest
Hi Beth, Thanks for your reply. It is so frustrating, almost maddening that these doctors refuse to recognize our symptoms as implant related. How can it be that so many women with implants have the same symptoms?!!! At least your Dr was willing to run tests. Mine will not even do that because he just thinks it is all in my head. I am so glad you have already had some of your symptoms go away. I wish there was a way to get these fibro symptoms and chronic fatigue to go away for good. Those are the worst of my problems I think. Have you started any kind of detoxing yet? I wish you health! Guest guest
I honestly think the Dr's just do not know. I was angry about it too but then I came to the sad realization that as much as we all believed implants were safe most of the Dr's are just as uninformed as we are. I can not in all good conscience blame my Dr. for not knowing anything about a disease or illness that no one else reallyh knows about either. I know that in the area I live in there just are not that many women that have implants, so it would be hard for my Dr. to say he sees a lot of this. The rhaumatologist I saw said that he has seen autoimmune diseases in so many women in my age group and younger that have no implants that there is no way he could give me a diagnosis and who knows, how can they really understand what has not been studied. If the Dr's knew then the women would know and we would not be getting implants. It is going to take a major study and major shaking up of the medical establishment to teach Dr's about our illness and as much as it hurts us that we can not get answers, the Dr's are not the ones to blame in my opinion, it is the manufacturers and FDA if anyone, that needs to come clean about thier products.Of course my plastic surgeon was a different story, he has seen many cases of gel leakage and the damage done and he told me it is not unjcommon in my type implants. He did not give me a real answer in saline except that they are safer, he never said they are safe. Again the FDA with the seal of safety on saline has to be the ones to blame. The Dr's look to the FDA for guidance do they not?Maybe I am wrong, but I do believe my Dr. is honest and he has been my Dr. for so long I tend to feel he would tell me if he knew more. He cares abut me and he is a kind christian man. He just is not the type of man to lie to me. If he knew implants caused illness he would tell me. He did say that gel can cause problems in some women with leakage. I am blessed again to have this Dr. he is a good man. Annie G <karengup@...> wrote: Hi Beth, Thanks for your reply.
