Hello Ladies I have not posted for a while but read your post daily, I am still learning stuff almost daily here.

My Sister Carol has her 2nd appt set with Dr. R in Lubbock June 27th , she is doing better slowly regaining some strength and as she puts it " at least not feeling like she is at deaths door", she and her family are just getting over some awful virus that kicked her fanny pretty hard... anyway when I was talking to her last night she said she is having trouble with constipation and is afraid to take anything that might interfere with her meds, so my question is does anyone have a safe suggestion that will actually work that she can get OTC.

Thanks

Darla, I recently had to get a stool softener. I use www.drustore.com and I got the Rite Aid brand called Col-Rite. I can't do a laxative. I'm just trying to stay at a happy medium:) I go Thursday to have blood drawn for the 2nd time. I am still extremely weak and losing hair like crazy. I am in hopes that whatever we do this time will start correcting that!!! Surprisingly enough, the best solution may be free or nearly. FIRST thing in the morning, have her drink three to four cups of warm water with a little lemon juice. I actually drink weak green tea in the morning and since I started this I have had almost no problems of this sort. Another cheap and easy option is to up her daily Vitamin C. A couple grams (or more, as needed) in the morning and a couple more (or more) later on might bring surprising relief also. Good luck to her, Terijo

There are 2 sure fire ways for me personally when constipation becomes an issue. The first is magnesium capsules. I get mine from Swanson Vitamins online and they are a mixture of a couple of different kinds of magnesium compounds totalling 400 mg. per capsule. One capsule a day keeps me regular, 2 makes me 'go' and 3 will really do the trick. Probably any good magnesium over the counter will do.

The other suggestion is vitamin C loading. My homeopath use to tell me that I should begin taking vitamin C and keep taking another and another until I got the twins: "Loosy bowels and Lotty paper". It's worked well in the past and had the added benefit of getting the extra C in my system.

And of course, one thing to remember is to drink water....the formula is supposed to be 1/2 oz. of water per pound of weight per day. So for a 100 lb. woman that would be about 50 oz. of water. It seems like a lot but when you space it out over the day it's not so bad. I weigh around 135 give or take so I fill up 2 quart glass jars in the morning and make sure they are gone by the time I go to bed.

Hope this helps....

Regards,

Steph S.

Hey Marcie,

Thanks for the reply, I will pass info on to Carol, we were worried that a laxative might be an issue and we really did not want to impede her progress inadvertently . Is this only your 2nd follow up with Dr. R , if so I did not realize you and Sis were so close together on your journey with Dr. R as her appt ont he 27th will only be her 2nd...I am so sorry about your hair, I dont know how all of you manage to stay so positive ! Hang in there!

God Bless,

Darla, Yes this is my 2nd blood draw. I think that y'all came to Lubbock a couple of weeks after my first appointment. Yeah...the hair loss is starting to concern me. If I were to straighten mine out , there would be so little there!!! I should have been saving what came out and had a wig made!!! Marcie Darla wrote: Hey Marcie, Thanks for the reply, I will pass
