Guest guest
Although there are many ways to test for mold, the object is to find the mold once you feel or know you have mold (via air testing). There are many ways to do this that are invasive into walls and the. One of the least invasive is to use a mold dog. Mold dogs have to go through 1,000 hours of training to be certified and have been used in Europe for more then 20 years. If we use dogs to find bombs, search for bodies, why not mold. A mold dog average cost is $15,000.00 Right now you tear up the building until you find mold. Why? The Mold Dog can smell the mold right through the wall. I own a mold inspection company in the Orlando area and we have purchased a mold dog and have found it is much less costly to the property owner then all other methods of locating the mold. Guest guest
Yes, I have heard of this and like the idea. I can see this being very effective for a leak in a wall where mold is growing and nothing is visible. Though I am curious, what happens when the entire residence is contaminated with high levels? What if the source is connected to the a/c but has spread through the dwelling from mold being in the venting system? Then what does the dog do? What is the average cost for a 1,000-1,500 sq. ft. residence? I assume the $15,000 is to purchase the dog? Guest guest
A good mold inspector automaticly should always check the AC Coil and drain area. I the air intake is low enough or the vents or floor level, the dog will find it if the ducts are infected, and is some cases, even if the ducts are not infected but he coil is, the dog might still catch it. I do alot of mold testing and this is an area I always look at and test. The cost will depend on many factors. One of the factors is how many air and swab/tape tests are taken. Another factor is if a dog is used to determine area of infection. And another factor is location and size of the building. I have seen costs run from about $400.00 up to $1,800.00. Yes it is only the dog cost I was makeing referrence to being $15,000.00. I suggest you contact a K9 mold inspector in your area for pricing. > > > Yes, I have heard of this and like the idea.
