The emissions standards would be paired with stronger vehicle fuel efficiency standards in a coordinated national program to address climate change and energy security. President Barack Obama told autoworkers at a General Motors assembly plant in Ohio, "We are launching, for the first time in history, a new national standard aimed at both increasing gas mileage and decreasing greenhouse gas pollution for all new cars and trucks sold in America." http://www.ens-newswire.com/ens/sep2009/2009-09-15-01.asp
