Guest guest
Dear Group,I do a lot of EN/PG online research, and when I recently discovered an error I contacted the site and asked for it to be corrected. Here are our exchange of emails. I feel it is important to at least have accurate info on the web for patients and doctors. Love, idio. EN '68 Subject: RE: Error on your site Date: Thu, 21 Dec 2006 14:09:40 -0500 Dear Ms. Strecker, I forwarded your comments to the Health Library Managing Editor and I'm happy to inform you that we have consulted with our Medical Director (the person who reviewed the fact sheet, Dr. Glickman-Simon) and he agrees with you. As a result we have done the following: deleted "the common cold" and replaced it with "various viral infections (eg, infectious mononucleosis, hepatitis B)" This change has been pushed live. Also, we will consider writing a CIB (Conditions InBrief fact sheet) for pyoderma gangrenosum in the future. Please contact me should you have any other questions. Best wishes for a happy holiday. Subject: Error on your site Hello, With reference to your site on "erythema nodosum": http://www.upmc.com/HealthManagement/ManagingYourHealth/HealthReference/Diseases/?chunkiid=100540 You list: Causes Erythema nodosum is presumed to be a type of allergic reaction either to infection or to a prescription drug. It may also be associated with inflammatory conditions. A cause is often not identified. Infections Streptococcal infections (strep throat, tonsillitis, rheumatic fever) The common cold TuberculosisFungal lung infections (coccidioidomycosis, histoplasmosis) Psittacosis (parrot fever) Lymphogranuloma venereum (an uncommon sexually transmitted disease) Leprosy (Hansen's Disease) ************ However, the common cold is not considered to be an EN trigger to my best knowledge. I am not an MD, but have been a resercher of EN for over 3 yrs. and I am the founder of the online erythema nodosum support group. We have over 1300 members. Also please add "pyoderma gangrenosum" as it is not listed as a disorder. My group also supports PG. http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/erythema_nodosum_Group/ Thank you.
