Ek chhoti si kahani

 

 

Once Narad ji asked bhagwan Vishnu-Who is ur biggest 'bhakta'(half expecting

that He will say-You Narad!). The God thought for a moment, and said, " Sunder

lal (or any name like Tarvinder Oberoi etc.) " .

Narad was very offended and started arguing with the Lord. The Lord smiled and

said, " OK, we will settle this later " .

He further said, " U go and see this Sunder lal/Tarvinder " . So Narad came and

hunted down this farmer 's hut.The farmer got up in the morning and remembered

the Lord's name. Then at breakfast time he remembered the Lord's name;again at

lunch time he remembered the Lord's name. Similarly at dinner time and finally

at bedtime. Total 5 times.

Narad came back and told the Lord in a very irritated voice, " He remembered u

only 5 times. I keep singing from morning to night in ur praise and u consider

me a lesser bhakta than this farmer " .

 The lord smiled, " May be I have made a mistake.Presently u do me a favour(

b'coz u r one of my great bhakta) " .

Narad was eager to please the Lord and immediately agreed.

The lord asked him to carry one bowl of oil, full to the brim, once around the

earth.He instructed, " Even one drop must not spill " . Narad ji came back after

some time and said,      " Lord, as per ur instruction, I was very careful.

Not even one drop has spilled "

The lord asked him, " And how many times did u remember my name " . Narad replied, "

I was busy looking after the oil. If i had started to remember ur name, my

concentration wud have

reduced and oil wud have spilled " .

The Lord smiled again, "  Narad u had only one worry and u didn't remember me

even once. This farmer has so many worries-he has to look after the cattle, look

after his farm and crops and watering them, and sprinkling the fertiliser and

insecticides, his son's education, his ailing parent's care, his wife's needs,

etc.,etc. and still he remembers me 5 times in a day " .

Narad caught the feet of the Lord.
